Default Info on Churchman's Cigarette Cards 1939

Posted By: Jbgird

Could anyone offer info on these Original Tobacco Card Set - Churchman Cigarettes, Kings of Speed which were issued in 1939. I recently bought these and know very little about them. Any info would be great like value, or rarity. Thanks

key cards (really the only 2 anyone collects) are Howard Hughes and Jessie Owens. They sell for $20+ in top condition. I've not seen a set break $100 but I don't watch them closely.

Churchman's had a lot of different offerings. One sport set they had was put out in about 1938 or 1939 - Boxing - it wasn't a bad set. There were lots of big names in that set.

they should grade them without aproblem. It's probably not really worth getting them graded as high grade examples of these cards are very prevalent and there isn't much of a demand for them. Great cards if you into the subjects, but there is little demand or resale value.

I picked up the complete set of these for $36 in 1997 from David Festberg. Not a lot of demand for these but I kind of like them. I don't think any of these guys were on steroids.
