Default Best non-slab way to display/ protect a card?

Posted By: Dave

Hello all... with the recent PSA decision to give half grades and all the talk over mistakes/ grades given, I'm slowly starting to think that slabbing my collection is a big waste of money long term. 10-15 years from now I'll have to pay a different company or need to re-submit something and pay again? All that money is better spent on ACTUAL CARDS and if I want to sell, then I can go to grade I guess (or whatever the best method is at that point.)

At any rate I'm looking for suggestions on the best non-slab holders to display and protect. Anyone got suggestions? I do like the uniform presentation a set of slabs gives you, but I have a feeling it will be a never ending cycle of money. Forgive me if this topic has already been beaten to death.

The people who sold screwdown holders had to sell their mansions when grading provided holders for millions of unaltered cards. Screwdowns are still out there and are a safer option over semi-rigid holders or pages if the cards will be handled often. Just make sure to use an archival quality sleeve and use a minimal amount of pressure to hold the card in place.

All of my cards that are not slabbed go inside a penny sleeve, rigid top loader, and are placed inside a team bag (or graded card bag if the penny sleeve/loader combo is too big.)

i agree w/Jason - penny sleeve + top loader. You can buy them in bulk for a fair price.
