Default My research Wish List

Hello All,
I have spent the better part of a year looking into what everyone here has to say and what everyone has shared and have now decided to ask for assistance in my searches!

I am looking for anything 1946 Pittsburgh Crawfords (Negro) United States League photos clippings etc.... same goes for the 1947 Newark Eagles.... Anything from the late 1940's early 50's Jacksonville Eagles Negro Southern League, Jackie Robinson Travelling All Star information and photos from 1946 and 1948... 1950 Eston Ramblers of the Independent Saskatchewan League and To top this list off any information on the the Norfolk Royals , Negro League Team.

Does anyone have a resource for rare early 1950's Minor League Jersey's?

I am working on completing a book that touches on all of these teams and need some additional information and my resources have kind of run dry!

Thank you in advance for any assistance and I am willing to purchase what ever I can afford but will also always accept guidance and do the dirty work!

Thank you so much for housing this great site for all of us to share our common love of this great game!

EDIT : I AM ALSO IN NEED OF ANY INFORMATION PROGRAMS, PHOTOS etc... of the New Castle Indians from 1951 of the now defunct Mid Atlantic League. [/COLOR]

Michael,

Not sure if this will help or not. I'll let you decide, but if you go to Ebbets.com
and look under authentic flannels you may find a uniform or two your looking
for. You can search by team, league, or era. At the very least you'll get an idea
what the jersey's looked like back then. Hope it helps and good luck with the
rest of your research.

Might I suggest the Saskatchewan Archives for information on the 1950 Eston Ramblers. The site is a little quirky, I would not "search the website", but if you go to "search our collection", then query "Eston Ramblers" a few items come up including 6 images of the '51 Ramblers taken June 22. Also seems to be a couple interviews with "Merle Byrnes and Mr. Mitchell" but this may be about the Eston Ramblers Senior Baseball League team in the 1970's.

Regional archives are always a great resource. Chances are if you contact them with something as specific as 1950 Eston Ramblers they'll be able to help you out, or point you in the right direction. Good luck on the research.

Michael

I actually have a number of things that you may be interested. I have a collection of newspaper clippings for the 1947 Newark Eagles. From opening day all the way through the season with a long article with photos from the Doby's last days with the team. There are about 25 clippings of various length. I also have a program from the 1946 Jackie Robinson All Stars team and was actually featured with it on a episode of History Detectives. Please feel free send me a pm if interested and I will send back my email and phone number. While non of these items are for sale I would be happy to provide scans or possible loans so they could be used for the book

Thanks
Jason

Default CHICO RENFROE collection

The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library in Atlanta, Georgia has the Chico Renfroe collection. It is a massive collection of newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photo albums and programs from his days as a player in the Negro Leagues and as a sports writer for the Atlanta Daily World. I think you may access it online but I'm not sure. Hope this might be of some help. Sam Majors
