Default T212 Major Leaguers

Anyone have a list of all of the players from the T212 set that went on to play in the major leagues?

Lew Lipset says in The Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards that 40% of the players in T212 played in the major leagues, but he doesn't provide a full list, and I can't seem to find one. Lipset does indicate in his checklists which players in T209-2 and T210 played in the majors, but not T212 for some reason. In the text of his article he mentions Chet Chadbourne, Paul Strand, Chick Gandil, Buck Weaver, Ping Bodie, Duffy Lewis, Roger Peckinpaugh, Ossie Vitt, and Jacques Fournier, but that's a very partial list.

Default Major Leaguers in the Obak sets

This is most likely an incomplete (Now with 2018 editing more likely complete) listing of players pictured in the three Obak issues that played in the Major Leagues, as I was cross-referencing lists that are likely not complete, and also did not want to include players I wasn't sure about. Perhaps someone on here (hi Rhett?) has the most accurate database for this.

The 1909 issue only pictures players from the Pacific Coast League, whereas the 1910 and 1911 sets also picture players from Northwest League teams. The Pacific Coast League definitely produced quite a few major leaguers, whereas the Northwest League, being not quite at the same level of play as the PCL, has considerably less representatives on this list.

One point of potential interest. Many players are pictured in more than one year. The 1909 set has completely different artwork than the 1910 and 1911 set. The 1910 and 1911 sets share artwork when a player, included in both issues, remained on the same team (for example George Cutshaw of Oakland). The artwork for players who changed team designations in the 1911 set will be different than what is seen in the 1910 set (like Tom Seaton with Seattle NWL in 1910 and Portland PCL in 1911).

Hope this helps, and others feel free to put me to shame. I have capitalized all the 2018 additions to this list.

Brian

I think Jimmy Wiggs (of E 107) should be on there as well

Default Wiggs added

Thanks Judson. I was utilizing a list created for Zeenut major leaguers, and only listed ones I was pretty positive crossed over to the Obak set as well. Cases where a player with a common name that was possibly in
much later Zeenut issues I left off, just in case there was another similarly named fellow who was active later on. Also I am probably missing ones that did not have any Zeenut cards issued.

I will add Wiggs, and would appreciate any other (major league) contributions.

I'd add Jesse Stovall (misspelled Stovell) on Vernon in 1910. Brother to the much better known George Stovall. Digging through the set right now getting ready for tomorrow's auction start!

And for those that crossed over, a list of those with major league baseball cards would be interesting...

Oddly enough, last night I just came across an article from September/October 1997 issue of the VCBC by Jeff Obermeyer that deals with this very subject, and which I had forgotten about. I have updated the third post in this thread with all the major league player additions (these additions capitalized in my list) based upon a very handy list in the article.

Here shortly I will post Jeff's list, which includes the MLB teams and years played for each player, as well as a listing (identified as incomplete) of MLB players in the Obak issues that appeared in other sets, with those sets identified.

Default Obak charts

Hopefully posting these is hunky dory. The original version of these lists were published in SCD in 1985 by John Spalding.

I've looked and come up dry. Is there a similar list for T210's?
