Default PSA plastic "elbow" in holder

Posted By: Jamie Boneparth

Sorry I don't have a scan of this, but is anyone familiar with the PSA practice of putting a plastic "elbow" on a corner of a card to keep it in place? I had a T206 that was graded 10+ years ago, and it has this plastic elbow on it. The card itself is small... quite small for a T206. Though I read on this site that there's a natural variation in sizes on the T206's?

Any info on this would be great...

Thanks,

Jamie

You sure it wasn't GAI?
Never saw PSA use a plastic insert to support a card.
But I have seen GAI use foam peanuts on a Red Man pack
and here's a bunch of plastic supporting my Salada coin strip.

Peter, I think he was simply too embarrassed to be in that "holder", so he broke out.

....and fled to Canada.

Actually, I think it is Cunningham that is missing.

One coin is missing but it is called "unopened"? Maybe Jay can clarify.

No coins are missing, the Joe Cunningham has the back facing us.
Its a black coin so it appears to be missing but its there.

Quan - the funny thing to me is that I had it displayed w/ my Junket unopened box from '62 advertising a coin inside the box.
I put the strip in a .15 cent 1 pocket sheet, then folded it in half.
So the strip was now rigid and protected...and it looked great.
But no, I had to spend $25 or $30 on this eyesore. Its jammed in a box
somewhere, but I refuse to cut it open as a reminder that not all items
should be encapsulated.

Look at the bright side, Jay, at least you've got the GAI "authentic" stamp of approval.

Which is nice.

The flip is tamper-proof, though, so that's cool.

"....and fled to Canada."

Quick! Name a player that was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina and lives in Edmonton, Ontario, Canada and can't hit. Wes Covington. Now name another one.

Sorry. He could hit--I was just reminded of the Reno Bertoia entry in "The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading and Bubblegum Book".

Interesting! I had assumed that many would have seen this before. I will try to have a scan up early next week...
