good luck robert - I would inform the credit bureaus on the off chance that something bigger is going on. |

I would also call my cc company and any other financial institutions you do business with to alert them something could be going on.....you never know anymore...it's very scary.... |

eBay doesn't have your social security # on record, so if you change your bank account access, cancel/get a new credit card, whatever else is relevant, you're probably fine. If your cc and bank account are changed, there's nothing for the scammer to access. |

Thanks guys. Sorry this is off topic. I'd much rather be discussing cards. |

If your account has been accidentally suspended via eBay error, or even yours, and no one has nefariously accessed your account (i.e., your passwords suddenly changed and strange things being offerd on eBay), then there would be no issue of stolen account or related financial issues. So if it turns out only to be an inconvenient eBay mistake, you can breathe a sigh of relief. |

use some code word or phrase so we'll know it's you like olly olly oxen free or something. God knows, it could be some screw up with ebay. Had that happen a couple times.....trying to get it rectified takes days....... |

As I said, an out of the blue eBay suspension alone is not normally a sign that your account has been hacked. I don't beleive eBay will suspend (or notice) a hacked account until notified by you or someone who notices something major wrong. A hacker can't suspend the account himself, nor does he want the account suspended as he can't exploit a frozen account. |

Appears to have been purely an eBay error, and your account was not hacked. If your account was hacked, I'm sure eBay would let you know it was hacked. If you want to be extra safe, you can change your password. It's a good thing for everyone to change their password every once in a while, even if they notice no trouble. The new password automatically makes old password(s) invalid. If someone you don't know has your old password it's no problem for you. The bad guys can have all the invalid passwords they want as, well, they're invalid. |

In many cases, your account is compromised but the hacker doesn't do anything with it for a while. A month or so later, up pop up the strange auctions. This is why regularly changing passwords is important. Changing the password nips a problem in the bud before it can happen. |
