Default 1920's panorama Baltimore?

Posted By: Max Weder

A while back, I purchased this panorama which was sold on the basis it was the 1920's Baltimore Orioles.

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case, and if so, can anyone help with identifying the players? On the back, Beck, Murray and Baker are identified.

Thanks,

Max

Sadly, no one I can even pass off as Lefty Grove

Similar "B" on arm, but its in a diamond not a circle. They sure were one great team.

I think your best bet will be identifying the stadium based on the decent view of the grandstands in the background. I would try and find a picture of the stadium they played in and then match the grandstand along the baseline if possible. It is much easier to match distinct architechture on something like this than it would be to try and match faces in my opinion. I have done this with many photos from the early 1900's since each stadium utilized different support systems for the roofs and were much more distinct than todays stadiums from an inside view at least.

I will see if I can dig one up somewhere.

Rhys

fkw, thanks for the posts. I had googled the 1919 link you posted, but overlooked the photo at the top of the page. Great photo of the 1921 team.

Max, considering the age of the players and the size of the stadium, you obviously
didn't purchase a high school team. Most major college baseball teams played
in stadiums puny compared to that.

Lefty Grove is on the far right in the picture that Frank posted. Very neat!
