I don't know. That article is interesting but getting punched and getting hit by a bat are two different things. Marichal could have killed him.

I look forward to someone starting a thread only about the nice guys in the Hall.

Since I haven't had any personal contact with any of them, I venture to guess that Harmon Killebrew might be a good one to start with.

Anyone have good things to say about any of our heroes?

I enjoyed meeting Ernie Banks. He was a sincerely nice man.

Brooks Robinson is a class act all the way. He and Buck O'Neil are the two nicest athletes I ever had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with.

Couldn't you say the same for Musial, Williams, Mantle, and Feller?? Yet none of those guys seem to have treated the fans the way Mays does.

I've never heard a bad thing about Hank Aaron and we must give Fergie Jenkins props for having so many 'guests' at Cubs games via this site.

I saw Spahn at a card show where he was the autograph guest, it may have been the late 90s. He seemed genuinely friendly.

Different sport, but I also happened to be shopping in downtown Boston and Bob Cousy was there for some sort of promotion where he was signing and posing for pictures. He could not have been nicer.

Mantle was a drunken jerk far too often. Ernie Banks should live forever, what a great ambassador for the game. Fergie Jenkins, for all he's been through in his life is genuinely a nice person.

I'll agree with DiMaggio and as far as non hof, ron guidry was very obnoxious in person.
