I'd rather have these 1921 Exhibits over Paul's signed T206's any day. No just kidding...Holy crap Paul those are freiking amazing. Your signed T206 collection is legendary. Now if only you'd sell me your signed CJ Marquard!

Seriously though just picked these up....for the value these Exhibits are so damn great. Can't believe how inexpensive they are relative to most other almost 100 year old cards...

I do love that card, but I know you're interested. Thanks for all the kind words everybody. My signed pre-war card collection has one glaring omission - Ty Cobb. I may just start saving up now for the next time one of those comes around. I've got a long way to go.....

Default "Berry" Excited

Picked up a large photo that originated from Claude Berry's estate. Same image used for his 1912 Home Run Kisses card. (See attached scan.)

As luck would have it, it disappeared in transit for a few days, and it never made it to my local post office, even though, my tracking confirmation said it was available for pickup at my P.O. Box. Called the local exchange and they said they had a package that missed the last truck. I drive over to pick it up, and he brings me another small package containing a T213. I politely requested that he check for a larger package, and luckily he returns with the larger parcel with the framed picture this time. Crazy!

Frame needs to be cleaned badly, and I'll get some museum glass to protect it further. Here's what it looks like now.

low grade? Perhaps technically, but I would rephrase that to "mid-grade". Nice eye appeal.

...and Paul, WOW!

Thank guys!

Paul - I agree 100%. The WaJo portrait gets a lot of attention, rightfully so. However, IMO, the Matty portrait is every bit as stunning.

Leon - nice T205's. Love the eye appeal.

Kenny - If your wife kills you, hopefully she'll have my phone on speed dial as you have great taste in cards!! Haha!

Great clarity and contrast on that beautiful Billiken!! Congrats on the pick-up!

Thanks Derek. I was both thrilled and happy to have picked it up. Lloyd was the last of the Billiken HOFers I needed. Now on to trying to finish the rest of the set.

Default Berry...Gilmartin Printers

Hi Brian,

Thanks for sharing the Claude Berry Gilmartin Printers. I have seen the issue over the years but never the Berry.

Ironically, I had inquired to the seller when I bought my item, if he had any cards...his response was just pictures and checks...no cards.

Congrats on the awesome pickup.

Patrick

Help, I've fallen into the 19th century trap!
I've dabbled in the sepia before but I'm really loving OJs right now.

This is one of a few January pickups for me. Waiting on a few more to arrive.

Beautiful looking OJ Andy, congrats! Have you advanced to a decision on how you might attack 19th century cards?

No, no battle plan. Right now It's what catches my eye and is in my budget range.
One OJ I did just snag is the humurous Nicol/Reilly (long and short) card which is one I've wanted for a while. I'll post a pic of it when it arrives.

Default Improved picture of Claude Berry photo pickup

Here's a better picture of the Claude Berry photo I picked up earlier this week.

It's frame was cleaned, and the image is now protected behind museum glass.

It's residing in a circa 1910 2-door oak bookcase. C46s are on the shelf above.

Just got these in today. Thanks Jerry!

The Donovan is the only example I know of. I have also not been able to confirm it with a Nadja back, so this will work as a nice substitute. I am aware of only 2 Crawford's and this is by far the nicer of the 2. Crawford is also 1 of 2 HOFers I know exist with the red back. It is also a nice placeholder until I can find a Nadja for my set.

DJ, Congrats on the red Crofts, those are great cards. I almost went after the Donovan but decided to back off. I should have kept going, it went for a good price!

A couple T3s from the Raleigh show today...

Nice finds Dan! The fronts of those cards are fantastic. Appears your are getting quite a collection of T3's. Didn't even know there was a Raleigh show this weekend?

Thanks Dave - yeah, the Raleigh show that was snowed out last weekend got rescheduled for this weekend. They had it in Dorton instead of the usual building. The next show is February 10-12, they're doing a sports + comicon for the first time.

The T3s are all coming from the same dealer. They're slowly trickling out from a major collection, and apparently the guy is letting them go a couple at a time. They all have beautiful fronts and minor problems with the backs, usually just minor paper loss on the corners or a little bit of pencil. Here are some others I've picked up from him so far -
