Default Negro League cutouts help

Hello all, I am not a card collector at all. These two items came with a Negro League collection I recently purchased.

As you can see, these are hand cut. The backs are plain. These are about the same thickness as JELL-O cards. Anyone know where these were cut from, or if these were part of some sort of premium? I tried to do some research, albeit quick, but haven't found anything.

I have one of Bill Wright which appears to come from the same place as yours did. I have also seen one of Bill Byrd from whatever the source is.

The working theory I'm going on right now is that they were cut from an advertising broadside for the Baltimore Elite Giants, probably in the mid-to-late 1930's. I have no evidence to back this up, but it makes sense to me. They could also be inserts from the Baltimore Afro American newspaper I suppose. I wish I could shed more light, but I've looked on and off for quite a while and haven't found anything very helpful.
