I will make the change. Thanks Leon. I was commenting this morning that it's great to have a thousand eyes proofreading the auction. I couldn't do it all myself.

all these cards are highly attractive examples.
But as many others have already offered you their proofreading services, I would like to point out that there are probably going to be a few too many zeros in front of the decimal point for many of these fine items.

So, just between you and me, where is the link to click through and redeem your 70% off coupon?

Best of luck with it, and I hope to one day, take part...
Jason

Maybe I could give out a free coffee mug with each purchase. That could work.

don't get me wrong, Barry, a coffee mug is a great idea, particularly for this serious bidding crowd that is always forced to stay up late until bidding windows are closed around the world...BUT!

perhaps something a little more fitting to your sitcom presence could be arranged?
-such as a complimentary marble rye to all the winning bidders,
-or a limited edition Bro, The Hobby's #1 Holder

???

Perhaps an Irish Coffee mug. Might loosen the purse strings of those late night bidders even more.

I want to clarify my earlier comment. It was not meant in a demeaning way. Over the years. I sometimes have thought that I had an unbelievable amount of cards. And then I'd do a buying trip or place a classified ad in some far away city--and I was always amazed at how much was really out there and how little I actually had. One person's collection is really very little compared to everything that's out there. I'm amazed at what people have and I appreciate how little it actually is.

Baby boomers may remember the phrase "amaze your friends" from comic book ads, like "X-Ray Specs" and the like. Always found it to be a goofy selling point.

I told my grandmother I got a first bid on a card in Barry's auction to see her amazement and she said "Barry Sloate used to be a nice town till the Irish took over in the early 30's" I tried to tell her Barry was a person but she was already asleep by then so I just rearranged her furniture, put her closed captioning on the Spanish setting and then left

A note to all:

If you have previously registered for the auction, you need not do so again. You can only have one username and password at any given time. If you need that information and don't remember it, please email me and I will retrieve it for you. Thanks.

Barry,

I found the PSA 8s--right at the end. Unfortunately I have the Play Ball Greenberg and the Diamond Star Traynor in PSA 8 already.

I was excited when I saw the SGC 10 Old Judges thinking PSA 10 but then I realized it was a 10 in the other direction.

Glad to see you are going entirely graded--its the only way to go.

Best of luck.

Jim

Thanks Jim. I know you have almost everything.

An Old Judge in a PSA 10 would be a first, and virtually impossible, I would think.

The great majority of advanced Old Judge collectors could give a rats ass about the number on the tomb. It's all about the photo quality. The card could be in poor condition due to a back pull but the photo could be gem mint. The photo is all that counts to almost all Old Judge collectors. I suggest you stick with the plastic.....it's safer for you...and I am sure much more enjoyable. Just imagine having to actually learn about the cards, the hobby, and the national pastime? Yuck. All you need is a bottle of Windex....which makes it much easier for you to collect. ...regards

Barry,
When someone registers for your auction, do you mutter to yourself in your best stereotypical WWII asian voice, "Leon Luckey. You on list".

Pot shot? Me? What did I say?

Barry's auction is I think all graded cards? That can't be an unconscious decision?

I think I know a lot about my cards, the hobby and especially the national pastime...and I like all my cards graded as does a growing percentage of the hobby.

Jim- I've always had some mixed feelings about grading. I get nearly all my auction cards graded as a matter of good business sense.

Wonder if anyone will have any money left when Barry's auction closes. Mastro prices were very strong in what I bid on and with Heritage tonight with some really nice stuff, REA on Saturday with some amazing cards(Ruth Baltimore News, Wagner, unique and rare K-Bats, etc, etc), and then Memory Lane with some amazing things also (although I hate the write-ups) and Luckey and Brockelman---where is all the money supposed to come from?
