Default It was a year without baseball cards....

Christmas day came and went with no baseball cards given as gifts in our household. And I'm glad. I'm not sure how to explain it, but for some reason I don't want or even ask for vintage cards on Christmas. Whenever someone asks for my list, they are absent. Perhaps it is so everyday to me that I would rather keep that in my non-Christmas life. Anyone else feel similarly?

James

I can just see the reaction on their face when you tell them you want to spend big dollars on a vintage piece of cardboard. How do even begin to explain your answer. Smart to keep it to yourself. Happy holidays and a safe new year to all. Dan

My wife understands it well, in fact, I make my living in the hobby. She probably wouldbuy me some of those cards on my wantlist as she is fairly knowledgable herself. However, I just don't want cards for Christmas....

I guess if you do it a living, it makes perfect sense. This is a time to forget work and relax. Me? I would love to buy myself a card today, but there are no auctions running and nothing currently on Ebay or B/S/T that excites me much.

Steve,

My wife bought a dinner jacket. How useless.

I'm going down to the Card Store tomorrow and hope that my '33 Goudey Jimmy Foxx #29 is still there. Now that I'm through buying gifts for everyone else, I'm ready to buy my own.

Peter

The wife gave me a R300 Geo. C. Miller - Grove - PSA A.
A Beat card, but loved nonetheless.

Dear Steve,

Thanks for the offer, but I purchased '33 Goudey #29 yesterday in good condition for $250. The other '33 Goudey Jimmy Foxx is also available for $700 in excellent condition but I'm not ready to buy. The 2 cards look alike pretty much and #29 is scarcer. I can wait on the 2nd Foxx there's no rush.

Peter
