Default Another EBay Fraud Listings

I think it will be helpful to create a post with ebay listings that are fraudulent to help other buyers. I will start.

1). Seller creates names and sells a couple of cards with police patches. Current name is pd-collector. Also used name feb487

The current listing is item 121748235576 E93 Cobb PSA 5.5

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121748235576...576%26_rdc%3D1

2) another fraudulent listing is a 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 7 ( amongst the other items this guy is selling). Item #252077329755. Scan was taken from Legendary auction.

Buy them and find out. Use this post to alert others not dwell on the why. I am telling you they are scams. One guy already took them down. Other is still up.

I'm all in favor of outing scams...

However, the seller (pd-collector) that still has his fraudulent listing up also sold three high dollar cards that ended in June, July and August. No negatives... so I will ask why you believe this is a scam.

So if a seller has no positive feedbacks from sales then the listing is fraudulent? Even if the seller has no negative feedbacks (including sales of three high dollar cards)?

Kinda odd to win a card from Memory Lane two weeks ago and just throw it up on ebay with no reserve.

Thanks Peter. Same with the other cards this guy sold or was selling. Images directly from PWCC, Memory Lane and other auctions.

Wow and so funny how the card became "no longer available"!

Thanks, Peter. That's pertinent information that would make one question the validity of the auction listing.

Good Job Ed---it really helps a lot of collectors to have these fraudulent listings outed---many times buyers will not look at a sellers feedback and just bid on a card----keep up the good work----thanks, Don

can someone provide a list of the top scams to watch out for on ebay? It would be good to learn how to recognize the problems better before I bid.

It's great you point out these scams.
However if you added a little more detail as to the scam or the problem with the listing(s) it would make it a lot easier for folks to assist in removal

Not sure I can report the card to ebay just because all the feedback is based on items that sold for a penny.

I know you time is valuable & no- I don't want to buy the card to prove your right
Thanks

Sorry I cant explain each and every one. Just pointing out. There is a reason the auctions are cancelled like that. Pictures are taken off the internet. Some of us on net54 own the actual cards often posted.

His most recent feedback accuses him of listing items that he doesn't own, using stolen scans.

Yes. I certianly read that. It was one comment for a directtv remote control.

I dont think that turns this listing into a sure fire scam.

Was hoping to here something more concrete that I couldn't just read for myself.

If you need an explanation you may not want to bid on ebay. Same items are being and have been posted under different names. Do some research on the cards, scans etc.. Some of these frauds are not that difficult to find.

Let us all know if you win the item and get an empty box in the mail or something else. Sorry but I cant help you anymore, maybe someone else will take the time.

Right. In the amount of time it takes to make this post, an explanation could have been given?

You think its important enough to take time to call out a scam but giving any details about it is entirely to much work, although updating the thread appologizing repeatedly for not giving full details is not? I guess i dont understand that but to each their own.

I have no interest in buying any of these cards. I was simply hoping to find some value in the thread and I think your response just lost me in that quest.

Guys I cant help you. Leon, Sean and others have pointed out to you some ways. Why not add some value to the post? The object of the post isnt to explain to you how it is a scam, it is to inform you it is. Whether you believe me or not is up to you but I have a pretty good track record.

Good luck.

Thanks for the clarification, this helps explain...

Guys I cant help you. Leon, Sean and others have pointed out to you some ways.

Where they have, and you have not. Not sure it's that you can't help, just that you choose not too for whatever reason.

Why not add some value to the post?

Funny, I was going to ask you the same thing, witnessed by the number of members asking HOW you knew it was a scam. But you've already said that wasn't the object of the post. My apologies. Lesson learned here.

Whether you believe me or not is up to you but I have a pretty good track record.

Can't speak for others, but I never had any question about believing you.

We should start a sister thread called "Is it a scam?" And only post when we are not sure if it is a scam and never investigate them. Just know we think they might be, or might not be

Keep outing bad eBay listings here and you will put Brian Van Horn out of work.

If you think you're going to get rich quick buying cards on eBay, you need a new hobby. There you go.

Yes. Look at the roundness in the fake label on the listing and the attached real card scan.

There was a time when PSA did have those round labels. I can't find the link but there have been threads about the whole sequence of flips and some did look like that one. Although it doesn't even look round to me at a couple of corners on another look, I dunno, but if they are faking the old holograms that is really scary.

So you guys werent aware of the fake round flips? This has been happening for a few years now. This looks like exactly what the guy down on West coast/Mexico was doing that has been talked about in past.

It is clear that these are two different cards in two different holders with same serial number, right?

It is clear that these are two different cards in two different holders with same serial number, right?

Yeah something is wrong, but it isn't the rounded flip per se.

I don't think I have seen a fake with an actual hologram holder which is a decade old or more.

For what its worth, this his response when I asked where he got the card.....

I purchased from a close friend I guarantee 100% authentic if I need to add
those details to the listing I will

plus the old sale had the newer flip version .....what I would be worried about is if the fake had the newer version with the grade number on the second line....this card is the opposite..

It could just be the scan but the one Ed says is real has some major holder frosting (I think) and looks overgraded perhaps.

Buying/selling the ebay id is really all you need to know..

also labeled #144 and not #53 in the listing...who would make that mistake on a card in the 1000s... where #53 is the more valuable card..

From what I can make out , it looks like same card ( spot on mid chest, centering etc) but different ( ? fake) holder. Perplexing. Somethings very wrong without doubt. Including listing it as #144

Free enterprise I guess. Kinda defeats the point of feedback though.
