Default OJs, ads cut from bottom

Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)

A few OJs (N172) were auctioned by the seller BBCEXCHANGE on ebay on Sunday evening. Many of the cards were rejected by PSA for being altered. These cards had the ads trimmed off of the bottom of the cards. The seller probably didn't know the reason PSA didn't encapsulate and grade the cards because it wasn't disclosed in the item description. Now the flip side of this is that there was a PSA graded OJ card that was sold by the same seller that had the ad bottom trimmed off. The card was graded a PSA1 (it actually looked really nice). It looked pretty nice with the exception of the missing ad bottom:

Perhaps PSA didn't grade the other cards because of excessive back damage. PSA is PSA and they seem to make their share of mistakes and they pretty much show their lack of experience when grading the many different cards that have been collected throughout the years.

In any case, before you spend your good money on OJs make sure that you know what you're getting. I wouldn't exactly trust PSA to do the right thing.

They can't even properly identify the single most important card in the hobby. What makes people think that PSA has a chance of knowing what an OJ is supposed to look like? People should be happy there isn't any cheetle floating around in the holders or orange fingerprints on the cards.

Do you think this post will increase the chances that PSA will advertise here?

I love pinatas. You get to beat the crap of something and get rewarded with candy.

BBCEXCHANGE is Steve Hart, who is one of the most respected dealers in the country. I'm pretty sure that if you had emailed him during the auction he would have responded in a positive way.

Rich,

I don't know the dealer. I'm sure he's a nice guy. I wouldn't imply he would try to mislead the general collecting public. He had one card graded with the ad cut off the bottom so he probably didn't know about that the ad on the bottom of the cards were removed.
