Default What are these?

Got a group of 17 W572 cards off of eBay that had been removed from a scrapbook with black construction paper. Decided to try soaking as I had never done it before. Project went great but under the W572 cards attached to the paper were other players that the cards were glued on top of from the same era. They appear to be from newspapers or magazines as the print on the back of these appear to be ads or parts of stories. Why would somebody take the time to cut out pictures of players, glue them in a scrapbook, and glue cards on top of the pictures? Thoughts?

Default Ken,

Why do people wall paper over existing wallpaper? Or re-floor over existing flooring?

This could be a simple case of someone not having money for another scrapbook and once they obtained the W572s, those looked a lot cooler than the simple newspaper photos or articles?

Sorry for the simple possible solution but it was most likely a case of, "hey, these look cooler than those!"

Just my 2 cents,

Peace, Mike

Very logical answer. Was my first journey into soaking and it was interesting. No injuries or fatalities on the card front and definitely would do it again. We can add W 572 to the list of soakable cards and currently in the process of drying them. Appear to be all white card stock and fot 4 HOF players from the lot. Some will be upgrades for me. Others will be on the market when ready.

Are they the same players as the cards that were pasted over them? If so, it's possible someone was creating a sort of checklist with cards from the newspaper and then checking them off by pasting. If not, no clue.
