Default Players on cards from 1908-45

Posted By: jay behrens

Well, the easy work is now done with my database of players who appeared on cards from 1908-45. The real work now begins as I have to go through the minor league sets of the 30s and 40s and figure out who made the majors.

Some of the players on my list as having only one card may actually have another card in the Double Play, 35 Goudey or other multi-player set, which I do want unless it is the player's only card.

Here are the current totals I have after having entered all the data from the major sets of the era (and lots of obscure ones):

Total # of different players: 2225
# players on only one card: 675

Breakdown of sets with players making their lone appearance:

Zeenuts - 205
t210 Old Mills - 45
e107s - 47 (if I ever decide to torture myself)
1933 Goudey - 44
Obaks - 44
Play Ball sets - 35
t206 - 29
t207 - 23
e120 - 21
Colgan Chips - 19
Double Play - 19
c46 - 18
m116 - 18
1934 Goudey - 15
Batter Up - 13
t209 - 10
t204 - 7
caramel sets - 7
t205 - 4
Diamond Stars - 2
