Default Books Similar to Reader's "Inside T206"?

Posted By: Donny Muth

Do any of the board members know of online books or articles similar to Scot Reader's "Inside T206" book? I'm looking for something along the lines of his book, but about other vintage card sets such as Zeenuts, Obaks, Old Judge's, etc. I know there are several threads on this board and other places discussing these and other sets, but I'd really like to find some comprehensive publications (hopefully in *.pdf or similar format) that I can keep on hand as references.

If there is nothing online, does anyone know of any hard copy reference books that fit the need?

Let me know please. Thanks!

---Donny

...track down Lew Lipset's Encyclopedia of Baseball cards here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/9998230330/ref=dp_olp_2

And you should try to find Bill Heitman's tome "The Monster."

And, for whatever it's worth, I have compiled dozens of links to Net54 discussions about T206 cards on my website, which you can access in the navigation bar of the link below.

There is an excellent monograph/book on Zeenuts by Jim Horne. It's from the 70's I think but copies surface sometimes. It's along the lines of Gilkeson's E&V books in terms of presentation and binding. Those Lipset encyclopedia's are indeed must have's.

They have told you correctly.

Mr. Lipset's 3 volumes are necessary if you're wanting to learn about the old cards. Mr. Horne's ZeeNut work is pretty good, too.

You didn't sign in with an email address. Can you provide that??

Frank

As someone still "green" so to speak in vintage cards Lew Lipset's Encyclopedia of Baseball has been a great resource for me. Some will say it's dated, yet it has a ton of valuable information for anyone looking to learn more about a wide variety of issues. I picked up Vols 1,2 and 3 on Ebay for about $40. Money very well spent.

Not cards per se, but I have a just out guide to sports photographs, aptly called 'Guide to Sports Photographs.' Covers all the types of baseball (and other sport) photography discussed on this site, plus more.

Purchase a copy at amazon.com
