Top 5:

Cobb
Gehrig
Clemente
Ted Williams
Ruth

Rube Waddell deserves an honorable mention because of all the great stories

Jackie Robinson should also be mentioned, and is perhaps in a class of his own. Not many baseball players would also be considered an American hero.

Last edited by CW; 05-20-2018 at 09:22 PM. Reason: How did I forget Ted Williams? Had to include him after seeing him on Bill's list.

Jay wins with Irwin. This SABR bio is crazy.

https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/e5e7bfa4

Having two families only scratches the surface.

I blame youtube. I have a good friend that decides to believe some fool on youtube over true scientists. It honestly makes me sad.

My list of 5 most fascinating players:

2. Hal Chase
3. Jackie Robinson
4. Ted Williams
5. Babe Ruth

Mine would be....

1 Cap Anson
2 Cy Young
3 Turkey Donlin
4 Ty Cobb
5 Grover Cleveland Alexander

With Anson the most fascinating, as arguably the premier 19th century superstar and original hit king.

No, they don't believe eye witnesses who have traveled into space and observed that the earth is not flat. Science has known the earth wasn't flat for over 2300 years.
