BASEBALL AUTOGRAPH RARITIES FOR SALE NOW PART I
100) WILLIE MAYS EXTREMELY RARE SIGNED PERSONAL CHECK 1955 Only a small handful of Willie Mays checks are known to exist. This one measures 8 1/2 x 3 and is dated May 1955. Check is made out to Art Flynn Associates and signed by a 25 year old Mays in lower right on the eve of his 1954 MVP season. Art Flynn has also signed the check on the front above the signature of Mays. Although a relatively easy autograph to find on other mediums , May's signature is particularly elusive on a check. His career accomplishments speak for themselves and many consider Mays to have been the greatest all around baseball player of all time. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 1951 and was twice elected Most Valuable Player in 1954 and 1965. Played almost his entire career for the Giants 1951-72 and for the Mets briefly in 1972 and 1973 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. $1,500.00

101) JOE DiMAGGIO SCARCE SIGNED BUSINESS CHECK DRAWN ON THE YANKEE CLIPPER ENTERPRISES ACCOUNT Measures 2 3/4 x 6 filled out entirely and signed by DiMaggio , payable to the "Presidio Golf Club" and dated June 9th , 1989. In fine condition with a bit of a light show through under signature from a stamp on reverse which is barely noticible. A very clean DiMaggio check among the finest I've seen. $350.00

102) KENESAW MOUNTAIN LANDIS Full page typewritten letter measures 8 1/2 x 11 and is dated July 27th , 1937. Extremely FINE condition Written on Official "Baseball" letterhead and signed boldly by Landis at conclusion. The letter is written to "Elmer Daily , the President of the Pennsylvania State Association" and threatens to impose a fine on the McKeesport for Failure to execute a questionaire. Proves how far reaching Landis powers were as Baseball's first commissioner from 1920 until his death in 1944. Associated with numerous baseball scandals throughout his rein he is best remembered for his handling of the infamous & controversial "Black Sox" World Series fix. Many critics considered him overly harsh by banning 8 of the White Sox players for life especially Buck Weaver and Shoeless Joe Jackson. He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame by special vote shortly after his death in 1944. $450.00

103) ED BARROW HISTORIC SIGNED YANKEES CHECK FOR THE FIRST TELEVISED HEAVYWEIGHT PRIZE FIGHT BETWEEN MAX BAER & LOU NOVA HELD AT YANKEE STADIUM 1939 Amazing ! check measures 3 1/4 x9 and is signed on the front by Ed Barrow and treasurer Albert Brennan. Dated 6/9/39. The check is made out in the amount of $3,107.73. On the reverse is typed "Share of Receipts Baer-Nova Fight at Yankee Stadium June 1st, 1939" There is a small JSA authentication sticker at the far bottom reverse. The fight held at Yankee Stadium was historic in the annuals of boxing as it was the first televised heavyweight prize fight. Nearly 20,000 people attended the match which saw Lou Nova brutally batter former heavyweight champion Max Baer before knocking him out. As a result the victory earned Nova a title shot with Joe Louis. Although Barrow is a member of the baseball Hall of Fame inducted in 1953 the same year he died. It is the historical significance of the check not only with regards to Yankee Stadium history but boxing history in general and the history of television as the new medium in broadcasting major sporting events. $450.00

104) CARL HUBBELL COMPLETE PERSONAL CHECK EXCEPTIONALLY FINE made out entirely in his hand and signed nicely. No bank cancel stamps affect the signature. Measures 2 3/4 x 6. and is dated 1/28/1985. One of the most dominant pitchers of his era he won the MVP award in 1933 and 1936. He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1947 and died in 1988. $100.00
105) CARL HUBBELL SINGLE SIGNED BASEBALL perfect bold blue ball point signature on the sweet spot of this Official National League ball. MINT ! One of the most dominant pitchers of his era he won the MVP award in 1933 and 1936. He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1947 and died in 1988. $200.00

106) SANDY KOUFAX & DON DRYSDALE TWO SINGLE SIGNED BASEBALLS Two individual Official National League baseballs each signed on the sweet spot in blue ball point. Mint conditon ! Autographs were obtained IN-PERSON at a baseball card show in the 1980's and I obtained both from the original collector. The greatest one/two pitching punch in baseball history. Don Drysdale died in 1993 and Sandy Koufax has increasingly limited his personal appearences. Making this one of the few opportunities you may have to acquire BOTH at the same time. A Must have for any Dodgers collection. Take both for $350.00

107) HARMON KILLEBREW COMPLETE PERSONAL CHECK Measures 2 3/4 x 6 and is made out entirely in his own hand and dated Jan 9th, 1978. No bank stamps on the front and paid perforations are well away from the signature. Although Killebrew checks are not hard to find early checks in this condition are. Hit 573 home runs over his Hall of Fame career he was inducted in 1984 and died in 2011. $45.00

108) YANKEES HISTORIC SNAPSHOT PHOTO FROM 3RD GAME OF 1962 WORLD SERIES Signed by ELSTON HOWARD, BOBBY RICHARDSON, MOOSE SKOWRON & GIL MCDOUGALD Measures 3 1/2 x 5. Richardson is pictured crossing homeplate after clouting a Grand Slam on Oct 8th 1962 World Series and is being congratulated by his team mates mentioned above who have all signed this unique photo ! $250.00

109) GIL HODGES trimmed portion of a 3x5 index card measures 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 probably the best first baseman NOT in the Baseball Hall of Fame Hodges was an eight time member of the All Star team and was a member of the 1955 World Champion Brooklyn Dodgers , after his sensational playing career was over he managed the 1969 Amazing Mets to a World Championship against the powerhouse Orioles. He died in 1972. $175.00

110) DON HOAK 3x5 index card signed in ball point. A tough autograph who played on two of the most famous teams in baseball history the World Champion 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers and 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates. He died in 1969. $150.00

Bowie Kuhn was inducted into the Baseball Hall of fame in 2008 one year after his death in 2007. $150.00

116) BOWIE KUHN AUTOGRAPHED SINGLE SIGNED BASEBALL Official Charles Feeney National League ball signed on the sweet spot by Kuhn. On the panel below his signature he has dated the ball 11/19/71. and on the panel above his signature he has inscribed the ball "To Gary Horner Best Wishes" Has a PSA sticker attached to the rear. Would easily display as a single signed as the inscription is far enough away from the signature to not detract from it. Condition of the ball and signature is spectacular even though it was signed over 4 decades ago and would grade the ball a strong 8 or 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. Kuhn was baseball's commissioner from 1969-84. Bowie Kuhn was inducted into the Baseball Hall of fame in 2008 one year after his death in 2007. $650.00
