Default Collecting by year and player

Does anyone collect sets looking for just one card per player? e.g: (I hate to use T206, but it's the best example) for T206's, just one Cobb, one Chase, etc. - it would certainly keep the cost down. I've been going after T206's that way.

Even easier, collecting one card example of each player, by year;e.g: use an E95 Plank and Wagner for your 1909 set, but 150-series T206's for the bulk.

I'm doing the B18s that way...since the red infields are impossible anyway. I did break the rule for Joe Jackson though...so not sure how much I'm saving.
