Default First post, Joe Mauer

Hi all,

I wanted some oppinions as to what would be a better investment? I am a huge Joe Mauer fan, I have lots of memories watching him and the Twins play, while sitting with my Great Grandma durung the summers in North Dakota. Now that Joe is retired along with ol' #7 I wanted to pick up somethimg related to his career that could double as an investment for when he gets into the hall.

The first is a team signed 2001 scorecard signed by multiple members of the Elizabeton Twins and the Danville Braves that dates from 07/27/01 to 08/01/01 and includes roster sheets and the ticket stub. This would be from the begining of Joe's professional career and is a nice overall piece that one wouldn't often come across. The scorecard is not filled out. The price is $105 with possible room for negotiation.

The second is a ticket stub from Joe's 2004 debut that was signed and inscribed Joe Mauer 7, Major League Debut, sometime in 2005. The price is $165 with possible room for negotiation.

A few things....

1) not sure he's a lock for the hall.
2) The scorecard looks better IMO.
3) how much will he sign in the future? His personality makes me think not much, unless he does a lot of charity stuff or the Twins fests. That said, sitting around the house all day may get boring. (Although Hrbek seems content with it)

First of all if you like the player buy the items and don't buy them looking for a huge increase in your investment. Outside of the MN area he was not a hugely popular player when compared to others from his era.
IMO if there is room for negotiation I'd buy both items since they both seem rare in terms of availability , but not causing a huge investment on your part.
Good luck in your decision!

Of the two I think the ticket has more appeal. I don't like scorecards or magazines and I wouldn't find too much to get excited about other than Mauer on the scorecard.

I think the signed debut ticket is the item with the most upside potential

Buy the ticket. That is a pretty good price for a Mauer debut ticket.
