The intro was written by A. Hyatt Mayor. Burdick himself wrote the explanation of the directory.

Should I say when someone gets at least one answer correct? The only thing is, then that spoils it for anyone else wanting to guess, as they would know the first answer?

Mayor and Burdick both wrote an introduction for the pamphlet.
I am fairly certain that it was published by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art but since the city owns the museum I think Adam may be right and it was published by New York.
I think that Burdick had asked Lionel Carter for advice on how to mount the cards in the collection, I think Leon asked Lionel Carter how to unmount cards in his collection.

Like I said above.....There is a name (large) on the first page, at the bottom, of who I think published it. It's where publishers are normally made known, I believe. At any rate it's a large name of who put this darn pamphlet out that I have. Hope this helps, regards

I had my wife, the English major who reads 3 novels a week, look at this. She said the name I am wanting, as publisher, is in fact who published this pamphlet....

So if the museum is owned by the city, maybe the mayor's name at that time?

Robert F. Wagner Jr. January 1, 1954 – December 31, 1965
John V. Lindsay January 1, 1966 –

Woodrow "Woody" Gelman?
Perhaps it's someone whose name appears in one of leon's threads about the golden age hobby icons and card collecting that he (and I/others) enjoy reading about?

off the bow. Woody was Richard Gelman's father and hobbiest in the early 60's. Richard published reprints of the ACC by way of Nostalgia Press. It was weak I know. Brey, Tiger, Gileeny, and others came to mind but it had to be a publisher. I figured Burdick would have published the guide himself but it appears not. If the guide was published in 1963 - I wonder his condition and ability to do so as he died in that year a sick man. Barry, as for your question - a quick google or "Ask" will reveal all. Or you might ask a gypsy....

OK, so here's the twist.....Since no one has answered it correctly, both questions and bonus, I am going to leave the bonus question and give hints but take away the bonus prize money.....I am not sure anyone would get this .....So, now it's all 3 questions answered first, for the neat Ruth piece, but the $50 is off the table....

1. hint for publisher - "Bill Mastro" ........(no, it's not about the PSA8 Wagner and he's not who published it, himself)

I will give more hints as we go....good luck....

Rob Lifson and Bill Mastro co-published the book "Enter the Sideshow" about circus freaks.

I wuz gonna guess Mastro as you spoke about your association with him in the Carter collection musings you posted at some point - but he was so young on the scene.... Nagy good guess and previous posted mentioned the card connection... I guess I'll tune in at the end as I'm not fortunate to actually own one (although I'd like to) and have no new guesses.
Barry, when I went away to high school I stayed in what was Arlo's room the year before. He had written his name and a doodle of a guitar on the side of a clothes chest. It would have been a neat momento. I also went to the flower show each year (BEST fresh pressed apple cider in Mass.) and met the officer (whomever it was) mentioned in the song. At the time it was just a day in real life - as the song Alice's Restaurant hadn't even been a germ of an idea. It was his father who was notable at the time.

Notice I veered this thread off topic...Leon, this question is too hard. I don't think we will get it.

leon - all I've got is this text from this post:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/153652/message/1168200470/

leon posted:
"Mr.Corson passed away in about 1960. The index card is a small part of his checklists but one I feel is most relevent to this board. I will probably put the rest on my website soon....under the personal collection at

http://www.luckeycards.com

Since I got this a year or so ago I have wondered if this might be the source of where the "Hustler" T206 originated?...It probably went back to at least Mr.Burdick (just a guess) though....glad ya'll like them as much as I do.
One thing that was interesting too was the way they were acquired. I had won the N167 Ewing on ebay and became friendly with the Lowe's (ebay sellers). The ebay gentleman is Jeff (a valued board member) and his esteemed dad, Mr. James Lowe, who has authored many books on Postcards. (google him and you will see) He is about 78 years young and has been doing this for somewhere around 50-60 yrs. He was the actual friend of Walt. Walt it seems, was friendly with the forefathers mentioned. Mr.James Lowe and I eventually spoke after corresponding with Jeff several times (btw, hi Jeff). He asked me if I was interested in attaining these? This is one of the really great gentlemen I have ever spoken with. When you speak with him you get that feeling you are speaking with an elder. Very "old guard" and honorable. The way things should, and used, to be. I feel it's a great priviledge to converse with these type of folks. At any rate I digress. We had to figure out what the letters and checklists were worth. Kind of tough since they are unique. Included was, a well used, The American Book of Checklists, Charles Bray, 1950. This is what Mr.Corson used to do his own checklists in. He also used many loose leaf pages which I was trying to acquire also. I believe I spoke with Barry Sloate and Rob Lifson and maybe Kevin Struss, about these, trying to get a value. There could have been a few others too so I apologize for leaving your name out. I think I ended up paying about $400 for everything and we felt that might be a tad below market. He said whatever I felt would be fair was fine with him and he just wanted to help the hobby....what a great man. I feel fortunate to have met him. Jeff, please say hi to your Dad for me if you read this...

best regards"

If it's not the aforementioned checklists, and it doesn't have to do with the fact that he was a giant in the postcard collecting world, I'm not sure what you're looking for.

Sorry....you had to say the exact thing.....I don't think reposting my message was the answer I was necessarly looking for....I got this card below indirectly from Mr.Lowe, through his son Jeff, on ebay.. I assume he got it from Mr.Corson as he was his best friend....
