The 4th pickup thread became huge because so many of the images were gigantic, so I started a new one.
Thanks to Brian McQueen for helping me in my goal to get all the E98 red background cards and also helping me pick up a pair of T210 Old Mills.

I know these belong on the memorabilia board, but I was pretty excited to receive both of these today.

brian, nice cards. did sgc mislabel them as T cards? I'm used to seeing you post nice caramels.

more e97s fun, leon was nice enough to trade for one of my dupes...i still have an extra e97 carrigan if someone has a common like devore. as expected i've picked up most of the easy commons and the last 15-20 cards (including variations) will take much longer.

Always loved this card - Walsh in the black uniform against the orange background looks really sharp. Also picked up a large lot of Star Player Candy cards recently - finally got them scanned and posted on my website http://www.imageevent.com/crb972

I like your Yo-Yo! I have a complete set of W554's, but would like to get some different backs. I have the "Bonemery", need the "Big Prize, & now the "Yo-Yo"

Hi Clint, I won them in a lot on ebay Saturday night and picked them up today. Apparently these were found at John Brown's cave in Nebraska City, NE.

http://www.lasr.net/pages/city.php?City_ID=NE0313020&VA=Y&Attraction_ID=NE0313020a005

The owner did not know why they were there, but they may have been part of a display as the place had some type of museum there. He got them about 5 years ago he said and just had them stored up until he listed them. The seller said he has a bunch more tobacco cards to list, but these were the only baseball.

I'm sure I overpaid, but I really, really like this anyway. It's actually a Diamond S Cigar, and not a Number 7. Thanks, Trevor.

Seems I find them in spurts ... this one, along with two others, were available within two days of each other. In the past two weeks–nothing. Guess it gives me time to get ready for the next round. Know of a large collection becoming available in July... starting to save now.

Ed, frankly I'm amazed that you have found as many of those stamped T206 cards as you have...when you started I figured you might find a few, but the fact that you continue to find them just amazes me. I'm vicariously enjoying your quest.

• It gives me an excuse to look at every t206 that becomes available in auctions, eBay, B/S/T, etc. without the expectation of having to spend a lot of money.

• My quest has no end. So far, I've not been able to find any listing of how many cards he may have touched in his life. Therefore, this can go on for as long as I can.

• I've made contact with a lot of great collectors here on the board. So many people have either let me know they have one they are willing to part with, or they see one in an auction and want to make sure I've seen it, or they let me know they used to have one, where it might be now, and I can add it to the never ending list of what I'm still after.

Almost one year in to it, and I sort of wish I hadn't wasted the first 20 trying to build a whole set. But at least now, the sale of most of them are funding the new collection.

Thanks to everyone on the board, especially the moderators.

Ed

Adam, it's clear to see that you had one amazing week!
very nice.

Ed,
agreed, I am amazed at how many of those cards you have been able to locate. This St. Louis one has exceptionally brilliant color - it must be your scanner, right? very nice addition. That one is in my "sweater" subset!

and horribly out of register. I work with color for a living (as an art director) but I'm used to the 4c process method, not the method used to print the old cards. But nothing seems to be in register to anything else...the yellow, the green, the black, the flesh colors .... but what there is really pops off the card.

I know it's not prewar. But I thought I'd bend the rules a little since I've been looking for this card for about 25 years. I'm surprised Phil didn't outbid me.

Paul:

That's a really nice Marichal card!

I don't know what you paid for it but I saw one on e-bay for a while last year with a "Buy It Now" of $400.00. I thought about picking it up but decided not to get into minor league issues if I already have the major league rookie card as then I would have to start buying Zeenuts, etc. and would be spending more money than I already do.

Phil, I don't know how I missed that Marichal. I did pay less, but the condition of the other one may have been better.

Just kidding. I knew it was trimmed when I bought it from a fellow Board member last year. But I just have to say...isn't this a beaut?!
Best $30 I ever spent...I had to get it "framed" in the SGC black.

I know I'll be glad I have it once Big Ed is elected into the HOF next year

Ed,

I definitely second what Dan said above. I've yet to find one for you, but I am eager to.

Nice strong stamp on the back, and now that I have it in person, looks like just a bit of printer's registration marks on the sides and top of the black line around the image. Sort of funny, since the printing is so far out of register.
