Default Blank Backed Walter Johnson and Hornsby items

Hi-

I have a pile of mystery items I am trying to go through. At the top are a group of blank backed photo type items. Below I scanned the Walter Johnson, Hornsby, and Clyde McCullough. They came in a scrapbook with a lot of Baseball Magazine covers and cutouts. Any ideas where these came from? I am guessing a book or a magazine of some sort but I am not certain. I believe the typing of the player's name was done by the person who assembled the scrapbook as other magazine page cutouts had similar typing.

The McCullough looks like trimmed Baseball Magazine supplement from the early 1940s. The other two no doubt had similar supplements issued, but the only ones I've seen of Johnson or Hornsby have a solid color background, like Exhibit cards. It looks like all three had the names typed on them.

I found an example of the Hornsby, and it's also a Baseball Magazine supplement that was produced after his career. The Johnson is tinted the same shade, so I suspect it's from the same series. I would guess all three came out in the early 1940s, when McCullough played for the Cubs, and they wore sleeveless uniforms.

Thank you Chris! That makes perfect sense given the other items in the scrapbook. I really appreciate your information.
