Default Marco Rol

The CSASHOWS.COM website is reporting that Marco Rol died on December 18th.

In my opinion, Marco ran the best show in the country and helped my collection by bringing in great guests. He was also just a really nice guy. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sad to hear that. He build that show into a real mainstay. I didn't get many autographs there, but the lineup of autograph guests over the years was just amazing. RIP and condolences to his family and others close to him.

Really sorry to hear this. Marco was a great guy.

I lived in C'ville and, as a regular at the store not far from Grounds, sold him a bunch of stuff in the 1980s at Southern Cards to pay for my UVa tuition, though he knew I'd cherry pick any '57s he got in. Regret selling my Starr RC but needed the money. It was a good place to hang and we always spoke for years at Chantilly.

He built something really lasting in this hobby with a personal touch that is getting rarer and rarer. Condolences to Angie and the family.

We ran together for a lot of years. We co-promoted his first show and I worked in marketing his shows for him for a long time. A true friend and a fascinating guy. Our boys were about the same age and would play together at a lot of his shows. I had some wonderful memories of Marco and his family.

Oh, how sad that is to hear! Wonderful guy and truly sharp businessman who built the Chantilly Show into one of the best on the East Coast, also ran the Tuff Stuff show in Richmond for some years. He'd sneak camel straights from me at Chantilly and we'd bond over them. Marco did me some solids over the years. Condolences to Angie and the family.

I too will miss Marco. Before the Chantilly Show, Richmond Show, and the shop in downtown Charlottesville, Marco and Angie had a very successful mail order business. They were regular advertisers in the SCD.

RIP Marco

Default Marco Rol

I first met Marco (circa 2011), when I set-up at his 1st Show in nearby Oaks, Pennsylvania. A great guy,
with a great sense of humor, and Marco really knew how to run an excellent Sportscard card show.

GOD Bless his soul.....and GOD comfort his Family and friends.

I remember that show as marking the beginning of the end of Hunt's ownership of the Philly Show when David tried to ban dealers who had the audacity to also want to set up at Marco's show. A number of great dealers said "****" you to that, and the Philly Show, in Valley Forge by then, became a shadow of its former self with Hunt selling out not long afterwards. I guess Marco couldn't make his alternative work, either, after a couple tries, but all the dealers applauded his efforts to do so, I think. If memory serves me correctly, Marco also took some unsuccessful shots to establish a New Jersey show. You always knew a Marco show would be well run and that he would do his best to get collectors out, and I seem to remember them all as being worthwhile for me. Perhaps not so much for him, but he was always fighting. His hobby legacy lives on in the terrific Chantilly and Philly shows of today.
