Default Looks like I got noobed (red ink Piedmont T206)

Welp, bought a Jimmy Collins and Elmer Flick from a guy on a FB card group and , being a T206 noob, I think I got a reprint: (the flick) - kudos to the guys in the Monster thread who spotted issues with the front which lead to me doing more research

[IMG][/IMG]

I don't think any Piedmonts had red ink..... sigh (but I didn't know that at the time)

good thing is, the guy is giving me a full refund (and he seemed ticked as he bought all 12 of his T206 cards in an auction lot that were "guaranteed to be real" ) he's a regular seller so don't think he was conning me (and the other cards he has look good...well as far as I can tell.

so, a warning to the other T206 noobs out there, know your backs too!

he posted backs of all of them, I just was too green to know a red Piedmont meant reprint. the other cards all look legit.

Well sounds like it will turn out OK for you. I'd recommend buying a few raw T206s from the BST here so you know you're getting a the real deal, and buy a few graded. It really doesn't take long to train your eye to spot fakes, but you have to handle some cards to get the hang of it.

I would suggest buying graded cards or try buying off of here on the BST until you get better at spotting fakes. Would help you spend your money better until you are more familiar.

If you could,
Pm me the Facebook page (not the seller), as I would like to be a member.

Btw, the first red sign to me was no factory information.

yep, he made it right (gave me 2 commons I was interested in (Kroh and Jones) both in better condition with no charge. (both sweet caporal factory 25 backs that look right).

The only T206 I had before these two was a Waddell portrait in Poor condition. I am slowly learning tho, (good thing is the purchase price wasn't high, I would ask for help if I was looking at a higher $$$ card)

thanx everyone for the aid!

I will, but just a heads up 99% of the stuff on there is post 1960's and 99% of that is within the last 10 years. But good vintage stuff does pop up every few days or so. Pm sent

yes this place is great just as a resource!

what irks me is this; it's one thing to make fake Cobb's. Wagners and Plank cards, but what evil twisted jackwagon spends all that time and effort to make a fake Elmer Flick card?

Well those aren't fakes. They are reprints made just for fun. Whoever made them printed the backs in red to make it obvious that they are not authentic.

I just came across this ebay listing that shares a lot of the same lyrical qualities:
