David,

We would appreciate it if you could address the issues discussed in a similar manner by Clean Sweep, Mastronet and others.

Thanks for your time.

I have e-mailed Dave 3 times and spoken to Clay once. He knows the questions are here. With an auction coming up tomorrow I think its safe to say he will not be responding.

I consider Dave an honest dealer and I wish him well.

Colt,

All these guys are my friends--some close friends--I believe they are honest guys--I think most of the guys who do the microtrimming and card restoration are on the hobby fringes.

You do not need to be so consistently nasty--I have not been nasty once--to anyone.

Ask your buddy Shane--he will tell you I am a good guy....and fyi Joe Orlando and I are buds now.

tell these guys you are unemployed and sell all your cards to them then in a years time ask yourself what kind of "friends" they all are. I believe you are using this term lightly.

For Jim,

Jim, start a thread asking these people that you are hammering with questions, if they are "STILL" your friends now, after all this?

Wonka, how about an image of Jim in a yellow school bus running over all his hobby friends.

Jim, seriously, any plans on starting a blog to continue this or maybe a web site where you can better structure the information gathered here?

In a few weeks, this will all fall to the bottom of the thread abyss and your hard work will be perishable and for nothing.

DJ

Side note: How come when I first used the word "witch hunt" last week, I got attacked but now everyone is using that term. Huh? WTH?

Colt,

The only problem with you nasty assertion is that the majority of the people here support what I am doing.

We don't know anything about you except that you seem to like the current environment--certainly if you have any ideas on how to clean up the hobby I haven't seen them.

Jim

DJ,

Most people that have participated think I already accomplished a lot and I could stop now and declare victory.

if they are not my friends in the future so be it.

I would rather havre friends who are honest, trustworthy and know the difference between right and wrong.

Ah, Colt, at last we've slid into scatological insults! I think now you're supposed to call Jim gay or make fun of his momma.

Colt--If you don't like these threads don't open them. Some of us are interested in the issues that Jim is raising and would like to see them through to a logical conclusion.

Jeff,

In Colts world asking people in a gentlemanly way to respond is cause for attack.

I forgive him.

take a look at Leon's most recent post.
he says he took over 100 phone calls re this topic, and it was roughly split evenly for those who had enough, and those who felt the discussion should continue.
i am no-one's lackey, don't know Jim at all, but find the topic relevant.
i am also incredibly tired of mean mouthed attempts at deciding for all what should and shouldn't be on topic for the board. it's lame and sanctimonious.

It felt like a 100 but was probably 50 or so....still a huge amount...It is very split and I do want the discussion to continue as per the guidelines I have set forth. If someone comes up with a great game plan and emails me to chat about it, I will consider letting another thread go. They've been too numerous otherwise....

Jeff, I have to admit that when I read your "if you knew..." statement to Colt immediately the song 'Layla' started playing in my head.

This is getting downright ridiculous. If you dont like Jim's posts, dont open them, dont read them. There is no reason to attack him. The funny thing is that most of the attacks are coming from people who rarely post in other so called "legitimate" threads.

LoL Its amazing that someone says something on this board that they feel is insulting to them and "im going to be talking to the fbi" c'mon, act like reasonable adults. And in all fairness I think the only thing Jim is trying to accomplish is having more transparency in the policies of auction houses. Is that so bad? Would it be so bad to know the complete unedited history of an item you purchase? I dont think anyone is trying to run anyone out of business. Those that dont alter cards will have my business, those that do, wont. It's that simple. If you dont care that auction houses have different policies regarding what they will and will not do to their cards, fine. However I do, and there is NO reason to insult anyone for asking legitimate questions to gather information.

I got your email and it doesn't look bad. I am happy that when I came onto the board this morning I only saw this thread on my screen that has to do with the alteration issue. The others had been pushed below and I had to scroll a little to see them. I do want the discussion to continue as I have said all along. Since you have politely done what I asked (and helped me get back on track with the board) I think you should post the email that you sent me in a new thread if you want to. We can all discuss it in that thread or the folks that don't care anymore can get back to reading what they like about this board. Go for it....and thanks again...

IMO, the next step is to give this topic a rest, at least for the time being.

Much has been said over the past couple of days, and perhaps the hobby needs some time to digest the constructive input, and let a simmering pot cool, with regard to the non-constructive input.

Further, being that this is hardly a new problem, continuing to push this issue in an aggressive manner, is unlikely to yield the best solution to the problem.
