Default Feeling Froggy? T209-2 Thompson?

I think I see where the T209-2 Thompson card originated. (Thompson is no longer owned.)

That's an eclectic group of fellows .....

Also a neighborhood in Savannah called Frog Town. Wet, low lying area just off canal. Used to be a bunch of shacks, now condos.

That is a cool piece, Leon, and would look good in my T209-2 collection!

Do you have any sense of a date for the piece? Also, are the African-American looking guys all using dark-face, or are the two sprawled in the foreground African-American?

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Mike

Hey Mike
The only dating of it, for me, is the style uniforms that can be seen. I think if I said circa 1895 it would be close (maybe closer to 1900). And to me it looks like the 2 guys sprawled might be African-American but there was no information with the cabinet (approx 4 x 6) when I bought it.

Upon further inspection I think you are correct.

And it reminded me of some other wacky ones I have shown before.

My first thoughts upon seeing the image earlier was it was a very early photo of "blackface" in use. They all seem to have some gimmick or another. Humor of the times.
