I think what Bill Mastro/Doug Allen say about the card will be more interesting than what Joe Orlando says.

One thing I do know is this; just because someone had a bad experience with a company, doesn't mean that any amount of "knowledge" and forced opinion is going to stop someone else, that has had nothing but good experiences with a company, from using that company.

I completely understand people's perceptions of PSA, vs. other grading companies, as being subpar on pre-war. But if the anti-PSA group truely believes that PSA has no business grading pre-war cards, then wouldn't they have to question the thousands of people who have, and continue to, get pre-war cards graded by PSA? Surely you can't be that "superior" to others. When it comes to the "big three," it's a personal preference based on personal experience and some factual mistakes and a ton of false claims and that's it.

A fanboy is a fanboy no matter how much you think that you know.

Yes, quite a long time ago I submitted to them and I still buy cards in their holders very frequently....almost daily. So if I am buying their product I do think that makes me a customer. I really do think PSA gets it right most of the time and have nothing personally against Joe O......I assure you if he and I ever talk I will be as polite as anyone......

edited to add....I won't buy above a PSA7 in their holder.....as a personal preference...

What do you expect either of them to tell me? THEY aren't the ones who authenticated it. PSA did. I have no idea who Annabelle is either.....No disrespect meant but I am not sure I care.....

Leon,

No doubt you have read of the travels of this card and what is alleged to have happened to it. It has been written about in detail on this board and in a recent book. Many of the details around what happened to it Mr. Mastro would have direct knowledge of. It would be fascinating to know the real story.

If Joe was at PSA when this was authenticated he was not involved in the decision. Annabelle is Joe's admin asst.

Here is your chance Leon

In a nutshell the prevailing theory of The Card is that it was most likely cut from a sheet and then possibly trimmed after that. I am pretty sure there are others that know as much as Bill does too.....but all of that is for another thread...... PSA slabbed it with a number. They are the ones that should be asked the questions. I am done with this subject as it's like a cat chasing it's tail....

No way Bill Mastro would ever be involved in something dishonest regarding baseball cards just to make money. It goes against everything I've ever heard about him. Same thing with Doug Allen. He is honest as the day is long and would never be involved in fraud in connection with Mastro auctions. Just impossible to believe.

On another note, has anyone ever seen the Star Trek episode "Mirror Mirror"?

Jeff,

Of course not--both are fine men and an assets to the hobby.

Thought there could be a few interesting details that someone who is best buds with them could get them to reveal.

Want to swap the 20 55 8s I need for my 7s and cash?

Yes...Jim does have a house here in Alpharetta with us southern folk. Unfortunatly I think it is the rain today that has dripped on Jim's head and put him slightly out of whack on his thought process. It may be sunny tomorrow Jim.

I bought a house in Georgia so Dave and I could have our PSA/SGC/ungraded debates in person rather than by e-mail.

I even offered to treat him to dinner where I would convince him to see the light.

Dave--I love the trips west to see the Rome Braves. I like watching the minor leagues better than majors. Can't wait until Richmond Braves move to Georgia.

Thats exactly what Gwinnett County needs Jim is the Braves AAA team. As if that county needed to get any more congested.

Jim, do you really have a house in Alphretta? Are you sure you're from NY?

And Dave, us NYers were willing to put a stadium up on the west side of manhattan -- which would add an incredible amount of congestion to an already congested area -- in order to have greater access to sports.

Jeff-

We already have the Braves here, and the class A affiliate an hour out of Atlanta...I don't think we really needed the AAA affiliate as well. But what do I know. Unlike in NY where I'm assuming many take taxis, bikes or walk everywhere I have to do the 25 mile commute into work everyday that on a rainy afternoon like today can take 2 hours to get home...and I'm just loving that $4.00 gas.

Jim-

Were you planning on bringing most of your collection to dinner with you? How many tables would we have to reserve for that? I'll bring my loupe to prove my points on those PSA cards.

I'm assuming your talking about on the court. Not on the football field or baseball field (ahem)... That's ok though..as long as you weren't campus buddies with those hood-lums Hurley and Laettner.

Yes the new stadium is going up about five miles from my house in Suwanee. Luckily I am moving to Bishop in the near future. What a mess the transportation system is in this town!

Well Jeff...

Most of them do play football and baseball. Duke and UNC, i'm not so sure. Although, nothing I can say will take away those golden memories of those 7-4 seasons with Coach Spurrier at the helm. Is he in the Duke football HOF yet Jeff?

I'll have you know that my last year at Duke we won the ACC with Spurrier and played in a bowl game. Really. And then Duke cancelled football which was for the best.
