Default 1867 Chadwick Baseball Player Manual

Just curios how rare this is and what anyone, in the know, thought of the price? I don't collect books but am intrigued by the really early ones...

It's rare and early, and any manual edited by Henry Chadwick is desirable. I've had a few over the years and have prized them. But 1K in that condition is too high. I never liked any collectible with so much damage.

A little footnote: many years ago I purchased one of these guides from 1869, and affixed to the inside front cover was an incredible Peck & Snyder color sporting goods poster. If you go to the thread on advertising pieces, which is on page one of the memorabilia section, it's pictured on post #68. You can put it on this thread if you like, as it is a collateral piece and worth seeing again ( I don't know how to post it, of course).

I agree with Barry on the price. A third missing from the cover really detracts for me, and really took away any interest.

It looks like REA sold the book in this lot
