Default Colgan's chips Joe McCarthy

A newly discovered Colgan's E270 Joe McCarthy with tin was recently on the 'bay.

The E254 predates the red obviously and would be the "true" rookie. I haven't seen a record of an E254 version selling. Does anyone know of a sale in the last several years?

Andy

Hey, Andy:

Sold mine, an SGC 10, a few years ago. Don't remember exactly but think I got around $225 for it. Definitely one of the rarest HOF rookie cards, although some would argue the rookie status as he is pictured in a minor league uniform. To me, the majority of the set is Major League so I do consider it to be his rookie card. Similar scenario to the N172 Kid Nichols as well as a few others.

I think Colgan's are similar to T206, you have majors and minors in same set.
You are right, Mccarthy is a tough one to find.
I've never seen the red or tin top McCarthy before.
I guess what I was wondering is which is more valuable of the 3? The "rookie," or the more scarce red border & tin top?

Pinkerton is a great one. Falls in between the E254 and the red borders.

Interesting, he's using a lefty glove on the wrong hand...or maybe not, I can't tell.
