Default Goodwin Auction - Props To Shoeless Joe!

What a great auction that was to watch last night. I was especially impressed by the Shoeless Joe RC in low grade cracking the $10,000 threshold. So glad to see one of my favorite cards of all time hitting such a milestone. I often find myself "rooting" for cards to do well, not just because I may own one or it's good for the hobby in general, but because sometimes I just genuinely think a card or player deserves the props, or has been under-appreciated.

Of course there was that amazing Ruth headliner, sick piece obviously. But that Holsum Shoeless...that would have been my target, had I jumped in the fray.

The iconic 52T Mick also looks to be making another hot run right now, with some very strong prices for 1s and 2s lately.

Fun auction. I only went after the Satchel Paige Monarchs photo, but bowed out fairly early. What a beauty.

Scott,

I noticed that photo, too. I am a huge Paige fan, myself!

Goodwin always bring surprise results, majority of them are positive. Congrats for the great success.

Andy doesn't like it either. Andy is happy that Sean is happy, though. It looks like a lot of the cosignors walked away happy after that auction (Andy is sure there were a few disappointments as there always are).

All 3 cards did very well! Could not have asked for better results. I ended up getting about 50% more out of my 2x E90 Jackson's by sending them to auction rather than selling them outright.

I considered making a play for the Billiken Oscar Charleston, but > $7000 (w/juice) was a little beyond me at the moment. Probably a fair price, for a sweet card, though.

I am still in disbelief about the PSA 2 Tinker (Brown Hindu) going for $4K....

MattyC had early notions of scoring Sean's Jax RC for 8k at that auction...

But MattyC now sees that when it comes to snagging 1.5-grade Jax rookies for under 10k...sadly, that train has sailed.

Seems John Titus is still riding the popularity train.

A PSA 4 Sweet Caporal went for $421.

An SGC 1.5 EPDG went for $314.

A PSA 3 American Beauty 350 with border went for $1,464!

I'm very happy to have bought a PSA 4 Piedmont back in April 2010 for a grand total of $79!

Steve

I have only consigned twice - it was not pretty, but at least there were a lot of happy winners. I can't imagine ever consigning cards again, unless for a fixed price.
