Default REA 2009: First Time All "Big Four" T206s Available in a Single Auction?

Posted By: Adam

I think REA's 2009 auction will be the first time ever that the T206 big four (Wagner, Doyle, Plank, Magie) will be available in a SINGLE auction (granted they will all be in different lots).

Am I wrong (i.e. has another auction house ever been able to do this before)?

I believe you are correct! I can't think of another. REA is cornering the auction market!

Then, it makes it absolutely trivial to acquire the rest of the T206 set easily, since the "big four" are in REA at one time, right ? happy.gif

I just checked the email I received from REA on their upcoming 2009 auction. They are going to have 4 t206 Planks and 5 T206 Magie's, along with the Wagner, Doyle, and another Babe Ruth Baltimore News, just to name a few lots. Could this be their best auction ever? I would say yes!

Any thoughts?

Tony

To my knowledge, the Doyle card has only been publicly auctioned three times: once via and SCD ad many years ago, once in a Ron Oser auction about ten years, and once in a Mastro auction about five years ago. None of these had all the others available. Of course, I am not counting Mr. Mint's famous auction of a fake copy.

I think Rob is going to again shatter records with prices realized, even in this current economy.

Take a look at this recent world record price for a diamond:

The fact is, even in a less than ideal economy, people are still paying top dollar for quality and when it comes to cards, Rob delivers the quality goods.

I hope they have some nice game used bats.

Also did these "Big Four" come from one seller or different sellers.
