Thanks for putting this together again. Really love this break and the premier slots to land. I was surprised it didn't sell as quickly as the 54' break with the great cards possible, but most people were probably like me and Christmas limited the number slots up in air. Hope it doesn't damper future group breaks and thanks should be given to Sean for rounding it out.

Happy New Year folks and stay away from the Jäger tonight.... Cause I haven't....

The break will happen on Sunday 1/4 at 8:00PM EST live on Ustream. For those of you who can't watch live, the break will be recorded and the results will be posted on this thread.

Not that it matters....I am just asking for my own curiosity sake. Why is the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth planted near the end with all the 1939 Play Balls?? I would have thought it would have been near the other 1933 Goudeys.

bill the buyers be randomized and placed against the list. i was not part of teh last break, and i having trouble understanding exactally how this will work..

The list of cards is randomized against the list of people participating.

Each card in this list will receive a new number, the current numbers are nothing more than placeholder identifiers.

I think the only thing not addressed is the Random.Org. (rank order)
How many times will the list get randomized and made final? I think you did 4 times last break

Quick example how it works (using 10 spots)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 (original list)
10,2,4,6,8,1,3,5,7,9 (1st random)
8,7,4,2,10,9,5,6,3,1 (2nd random)
4,9,10,2,5,1,8,3,7,6 (3rd random)
2,5,4,8,1,9,3,10,6,7 (finalized order/results)

So who ever got spot #1, would get card #2 in the list
Spot #2, would get card #5
Spot #3, would get card #4
Spot #4, would get card #8....see how it works now, just with more people & cards

Why can't all the cards be written down, thrown in a tumbler/basket, and randomly draw a card as the list goes. Who ever gets what gets what. Completely random!! Just my $.02

I think the format is great and I appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Pulling names out of a hat would be very time consuming. Most online breaks use a randomizer for something like this.

Hey guys,

Sorry for not responding to a few of the questions, I've been out of town for two days.

The random will be done via random.org, the participant list will be randomed. I will do the random for the participant list 5 times. Then I will match the randomed participant list with the card list on an excel sheet. I will go revealing each card starting with #1 through #263, with the participant who received that card. All this will be done will via Ustream.

I feel just doing the random for the participant five times will be sufficient in determining the random for the break. Doing the random for the card list will further complicate the break because I already have all 263 cards in order for the live break tomorrow. I just want to give you a quick glance at the card during the live break just to get a feel for the relative condition of each card. I will also try to take some picture scans of those cards, in case trades/sales after the break might occur. I have a three hour drive back home tomorrow so I'm guessing I will be home at about 2:00PM EST or so.

Hope that makes sense and answers some of your questions.

My Ustream account username is autocentral.

I will be broadcasting live via my phone because my broadcast camera is not working. It should run smoothly even though I will be running the broadcast from my phone. The quality may be a little worse than usual but I tested it out just now and everything is clear and visible.

Hope to see a lot of you tonight at 8:00PM EST. I will go live probably at about 7:45 or so.

Good luck to everyone tonight!

I am really stoked about this break. Paying for four slots was a little bit more than I had in the budget (by about $15) for cardboard last month. However, the thrill of the unknown has had me pumped for days.

Thanks again, Nick and Leon, for pulling this together. Outside of T206 cards, my Pre-War collection is pretty thin. Now I will have a few additions.

During the 1954 Topps set break, someone asked people to send him their unwanted cards. At risk of revealing just how much of a penniless hack I am, I humbly ask for the same thing.

I, too, would LOVE any unwanted cards... I don't care about condition... writing on it... holes in it... whatever.
I have a fondness for the Land of Misfit Toys and Baseball Cards.

I'll make that trade! I got the 1939 Play Ball Henry Pippen #8... Pretty sure the Veteran's Committee will be voting ol' Cotton in this year.

On a more serious note... Anyone who has a 1939 NY Giant, I'd swap...or pretty much any year... I've got a few Giants from these sets, but anything I don't have, I'd be game. Cheers! (and thanks again, Nick!)
