I have to look back into this, but I'm pretty sure this could be the first tournament in a long time where a number 12 seed did not beat a 5 seed.

Bill- it was 2000. I always used to joke with a friend when he was filling out his brackets: "make sure you pick at least one 12 to beat a 5." The 2000 tournament also had virtually no upsets in the first round.

Thanks for the info. I actually didn't think it was that recent! I remember reading something somewhere that a good bet is always to bet on each #12 seed in the tournament, as even if you are only right on one of them, you make out. Don't remember the whole ins and outs of it but it was interesting.

Frank, I have all 5 of my entries in the group, one is my girlfriends and as stated above the bowlingshoegiverouterguy entry is my entry for the Chase. My best entry is one with all the top seated (or is it seeded?) being picked.

I'm in four different brackets in various places, including Net54. I think I have OSU in the FF on all of them, and winning the whole thing in at least one. So I was definitely biting my nails - I thought Xavier had it at about 2 minutes to go and 7 or 9 points up, or whatever.

Great ending - even with Oden fouling out with the intentional foul with 9 seconds in regulation. Had to do it, and smart foul on his part.

Xavier made a cardinal mistake that almost all basketball coaches make. If you are up 3 with seconds left, you foul the guy with the ball before he takes the shot. This means 2 free throws instead of giving him a shot at making the 3. You rarely see any coach with the guts to do this but it always works if you have the cajones to do it.

As it stands, I think next year there will be a rule that you can only have one entry in the group as a couple of entries have dropped from the group and the person leading is using his second entry with no first entry in the group. I have no idea if he also had his first entry in the group and then dropped it to keep the better one.

Unless I make a miraculous recovery, Mr. Chase will be on his way to a new home. I'm tied for 47th with my Marquette1 bracket. Marquette2 bracket, however, had it been entered would be tied for first place. Unreal! I submitted the bracket with all the upsets in the 54 contest and the one in which I used my head in another area and had 98.0 percent which would have tied our current leader as of Sunday morning. There is second entry for me at the very end of the list that is identical to my "official" entry. I'm not sure why it's there, but since both entries are the same, I think the system is omitting one from the contest as it doesn't have a rank.

This is probably the only chance I will have of bragging, so....

It's kinda nice to be anchoring the entire group with my name at the very bottom AND top. (I know we're tied D.Bretta, but my name's on top)

Just amazing how these number 1 seeds keep slipping the axe. No cinderellas this year but an incredible amount of good tight games.
Unless someone near the top has Memphis or Oregon to win it all (doubtful), and it happens, I think the standings won't change much as almost everyone had GTown, NC, Kansas, Florida, Ohio State moving on and also Memphis and UCLA in the mix.

It NEVER ceases to amaze me how bad I am at these brackets. I follow college BB and still own 2 season tickets right behind the Princeton bench (even though I now live in GA), and actually understand the back door play.

Although I picked Florida to beat Ohio State in the finals 77-66, I had enough other teams lose along the way that I won't be the winner. Soooo, will the winner please email me and I'll get the Chase off to him or her as soon as possible.

Well I had Florida winning by 11 and they won by 9 so I feel much better. Plus Tom Boblitt and I managed to zoom in to a tie for 14th, not too shabby when you consider at one time we were in the 50's.

I looks like the group size is just the number of folks that have signed up at any given time. I can't find any setting that limits the size of the group.
