Default Survey about purchasing habits

In the past year, what percentage of your card purchases have come from -

1.) Ebay
2.) An auction house
3.) Net54 BST
4.) Card Show
5.) Other (e.g. personal exchange, other internet source)

If "Other" is a significant percentage, would you mind identifying that other source?

Thanks in advance.

In terms of number/value of cards, I am about 50/50 ebay and net54. In terms of number of transactions, I am closer to 85/15 towards ebay.

This site is great for working out custom lots - working with the seller to get just what you need. And my buying experience on this site has been very positive overall.

This was my first year using auction houses and I've used the net54 BST more this year than ever. I'd say in previous years it was more like ebay 80% net54 10% card show/other 10% but I'm happily moving away from eBay more and more.

In the past year, I'm probably:

1.) Ebay 50%
2.) An auction house 30%
3.) Net54 BST 20%
4.) Card Show 0%
5.) Other 0%

But in the past couple months, I'm more like:

1.) Ebay 10%
2.) An auction house 40%
3.) Net54 BST 50%
4.) Card Show 0%
5.) Other 0%

I've been trying real hard to quit ebay when it comes to Pre-War. When I do search, I avoid auctions and will occasionally do Buy it Now/Best Offer. Most of my recent ebay purchases are oddball stuff, a little modern, and supplies.

If it is purchases:

2.) An auction house - 30%
3.) Net54 BST - 15%
4.) Card Show - 5%
5.) Other (local card shops) - 0%

If it's individual cards (since many auction house pickups are larger lots), it's more like:

4.) Card Show - 2%
5.) Other (local card shops) - 0%

1. eBay 80%
2. BST 20%
3. AH 0%

I will be trying auction houses by years end. I have sold what I needed to on eBay and I will transition away from them, buying and selling. I think it will be easier on my wife buying from an AH now and then. Instead of eBay all the time. Although the money going out will be about the same.

I've really grown to love HOFERS with tougher backs as my addiction has grown.

95% Ebay
5% BST

Wish it was more on the BST side, but my want list is far too obscure to hit very often on the BST. Theres simply no substitute for me.

Default Viewed two ways

number of acquired cards
1.) Ebay 80%
2.) An auction house 0%
3.) Net54 BST 0%
4.) Card Show0%
5.) Other (e.g. personal exchange, other internet source) 20%

Cards by value (higher ticket)
1.) Ebay 30%
2.) An auction house
3.) Net54 BST
4.) Card Show
5.) Other (e.g. personal exchange, other internet source) 70%

For me, the eBay ones are on the cheaper side, the ones found by other board members that contact me seem to be more HoFers, rare backs, etc.

Estimated roughly on $ value/spent.

1.) Ebay - 5%
2.) Auction house - 20% (includes general, non-sports specific AHs)
3.) Net54 BST - 5%
4.) Card Show - 50% (including the National)
5.) Other - 20%

"Other" is mostly trading, which I guess technically aren't purchases (though I probably bought the cards I was trading with at some point).

Ebay purchases have dropped off considerably in the past couple of years.

I would estimate:

Ebay - 90%
Card show - 5%
Other (gifts from a dealer friend) - 5%

And that might be understating the Ebay figure.

I have used BST on this forum, but i dont know if i did in the last year, so i am leaving that at zero with auction houses a definite zero.
