Default FS: 1870s-1880s Harvard Team Cabinet Photo

Offering here a beautiful team cabinet photo of the Harvard baseball club. Not dated but judging from uniforms appears to be 1870s or 1880s and measures aprroximately 6.5 in. x 4.5 in. Obvious condition issues but rare indeed. The tape on the back is actually on the plastic case, not the photo itself. Feel free to ask any questions at javanbrigham@verizon.net.

Price is $650 with paypal gift although I'm willing to listen to offers.

What leads you to believe that this is the Harvard team?

I didn't want to interfere with the sale but it doesn't look like Harvard to me either. They never wore those uniforms. Nice image, nonetheless.

Default Was Hunt Auctions Incorrect?

Perhaps I was misinformed. I found this item sold at Hunts in 2009 and described as a Harvard team cabinet. I bought it from a fellow collector last year. The link is below. It was lot #308.
Any help would be appreciated.

Here's my picture of the 1882 Harvard baseball team. I own a few others from the era (give or take a couple of years), and the uniforms all look similar to what is seen here, with just an "H" on the jerseys.

One other thought - Marlboro Mass. is about 40-45 minutes west of Harvard, while Boston is about 10 minutes away. So if (esp. in the 1870s-1880s) one were looking for a photographer, proximity would be of the utmost importance.

With a large number of photography studios in Boston (and in Cambridge) at the time, I would see it strange to use a photographer located so far away from Harvard.

I was thinking it might be a reference to Harvard, Mass (the town), which is a bit closer to Marlborough.

Almost 99% of all Harvard cabinets would have been taken by Pach Bros.
