It has that silvery look that I look for when deciding if something is vintage rather than modern.

I didn't like the faded look to it. The REA image is much clearer.

Also, the writing on the REA one is much brighter and cleaner. Typically when I'm looking at these types of items and see the writing, if it isn't clear (like the REA example), I tend to think that it's been duped and reproduced. You lose clarity and definition with each generation which is what I think happened here. I also don't like the uniformity of wear on the corners. Artificially aged.

Anyway, just my opinions but it makes me wary.

I'm fairly sure that Leon won this one, so since he already has the original REA one, he'll probably be able to tell if it's authentic once he gets it.

I was looking at it when it was sold. I didn't want to pull the trigger when I looked at the card versus the REA one. I also looked at the sellers other items and since he really doesn't have alot of baseball cards for sale it just felt too risky for me. Hopefully it is an authentic card since it sold for $1,500

I think it's real. As the poster above said, it's got that silver reflection that happens when tilted in light... If its not, that's some great trick photography.

I'm not sure about the price, seems like it wasn't a bargain...

I see what you're saying about the silver finish and looking at the other angles, etc. perhaps it is real. It just gave me pause when I first saw it. I also can see a corner chip where it looks like photo paper so...

Just got in from a softball game....3 run homer, 2 run triple, triple, single, 4 runs scored....it was a good night.

I am guessing I will be able to tell when I get it. Seller has14000 perfect feedback and I used paypal.. Plus, since this is the first one I have ever seen like it, it seems it would be hard to fake. But the totality of the situation makes me not too worried.

Just wondering, were there any fielders on the other team?

Seriously, nice box score Leon.

The white area at the bottom of the REA one seems to indicate more contrast; seems bright. Not to mention the fact that it's a much better photo than the subject one. It seems a better camera was used for REA as well. Also, if it's fake, I'll be negatively impressed by the false aging to the (rounded) corners. I'm looking on my tiny phone, but the back looks good...the paper does.

Admittedly it is a Sr. League.....but most of the guys are pretty good. The wind had died down tonight and the ball was carrying. I have hit the fence 3 times in the air, in two seasons, but this is the first one that went out.

what's even more impressive is that Leon was on his phone buying rare Ruth cards while legging out that first triple.

Being Jewish that reminds me of the ole blue chip joke.

Default ump

As the head umpire for the ASA in the Chicago Metro area, I feel you need someone like me to umpire your games. Tell me where and when and then we can have some verification of these Herculean blows.

I have a friend that was in a position sort of like yours. He had a very busy situation. As for the hitting......back at it tonight but I doubt I will be as successful. I love playing.....

and back to subject I should have the Ruth card soon so that should be interesting.

Due to the silvering, I would guess it's genuine. Silvering is an aging process and usually only appears in antique photos.
