Default Worst Ebay Customer Ever?

For those who sell regularly on ebay watch out for castiron2212. They won two cards from me a couple of weeks ago and not only haven't paid but also haven't responded to two emails.

But what makes them so bad is that with a feedback of only 5 individual transactions, they all ready have 7 negatives, and if I decide to leave two they will now have 9. That's a staggeringly bad percentage.

I guess I have to block them out and report them to ebay as nonpaying bidders. Can anyone explain such pathological behavior? I'm just venting my frustration.

Barry -
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I to have had several transactions just like this one.
Just don't get it. I did check out the buyer in question though and it seems several other board members have had transactions with him recently as well. Wonder how it went for them. Would be interesting to have them chime in and see how it went for them.

Tony

I thought under the new feedback system sellers can not leave negative feed back for buyers?

I thought so too Bobby, but I still see when I leave feedback as a seller that I can hit either the positive or negative button. However, haven't tried negative yet (in fact never sent a negative to anyone).

Scott- only difference is they deliberately sabotage scam auctions; in this case I was selling in good faith and this idiot bid without ever intending to pay. Why bother?

Man, it's certainly not your usual m.o. to speak ill of others. It seems that, based on your past track record, if somebody irks you to that extent, your gut feeling is probably correct.

Thanks Jodi, but please click on the link above that Steve M. provided, and take a look at their feedback. It's almost impossible to be that bad, unless it's a sickness.

Jeff- when I start to misspell simple words, I need more than bark and twigs. I need a sedative.

I just got my first negative feedback last week from some new clown. His handle was "alreadyhigh420". He bought a $8 item, and despite me stating a return policy, he immediately left negative feedback because the item didn't fit without contacting me first. I was able to leave him negative feedback also, but it is is first transaction, so I'm sure he will just close the acccount and start a new one. It really stinks when you work so hard to maintain a 100% positive for years. Sort of like the first scratch in your brand new car. Oh well.

I know Mike...I haven't gotten my first negative yet, but if it eventually happens it will be over something irrational.

It might be a good idea to have a place on the board to report really bad bidders like castiron2212. Then everyone who sells on ebay could just block them as a preventative measure.

Wow,what a strange bird. He(or she) has gotten negs for non-payment on 5 and 10 dollar cards, but has paid on some larger wins including this one?? This buyer has won many items in the last few days, and currently at a 64% rating, will get the boot soon.

Hi Barry,

This person won one of my 1914 Cracker Jacks that I put up on eBay a couple of weeks back.

I've written to them through the eBay system but don't expect to be hearing back based upon your experience and the other negative feedback that they've received.

I will be reporting them as a non paying bidder shortly as well.

Sorry to hear that Scott. I will report them in a few days too. There is clearly something amiss here...the bidder is bidding on tons of stuff and paying for very little of it.

Hey Barry, I was away fighting in some stupid war and forgot my password, so I changed my name in ebay. Would you disqualify me from your auctions in ebay because I only have 3 feedbacks?

Hi Rawn, I don't see anywhere where Barry said he had a problem with low feedback. We all started at zero. This guy in question has tons of negative feedback. Big difference.

Thanks for your service.

Randy

I don't disqualify single digit bidders but they do get me a little concerned. I've had people with zero or 1 feedback win a lot and pay promptly, so that's not the issue. It's all the negatives this person had. But I don't follow my auctions through the week so closely that I check every bidder's feedback.

What I'm more worried about is when the new feedback policy is in effect and good sellers like Barry are not only stiffed for the money, but also will get an undeserved negative and without the ability to give the deadbeat anything except positive feedback in return.
We won't be able to distinguish the good buyer from the bad when they all eventually have positive feedback, thanks to the new eBay policy. All buyer negatives will be deleted within 12 months...gone forever.

Andrew- it has crossed my mind that cranky buyers could give out negative feedback for the littlest thing (package is a day late!) because there is no ability to retaliate. In the worst scenario the buyers will have a field day with anybody who looks at them the wrong way (I know you can't look at people on the internet), and sellers will have to be really careful with what they say.

What if a buyer is late paying, the seller has to send him an email or two, and then the buyer says if he keeps bugging me I'm going to hit him with a negative?

It could start to get pretty ugly.

Thanks and I will send a note to the seller that I'm in a situation until my wife finds out how much that I'm spending. Just wondering if the sellers out there give a benefit of the doubt to low feedback.

Thanks, Rawn

Hello Rawn,
Unfortunately, the fact is that many low feedback bidders are inexperienced and they don't understand the system. I have well over 2000 transactions on ebay, and ALL of my problems as a seller have been from bidders with a feedback of less than 10.

I don't block bidders with low feedback but I am always apprehensive until the transaction is complete.

In regard to your service in the war, thank you very much, your service is greatly appreciated.

Rick

I've never blocked a bidder while an auction was in progress. Sometimes I see that the high bidder at a particular point during the week may have single digit feedback.

Do any sellers actually approach them or ban them before it ends?

I've benn asked many questions before my bids. I pay and have been asked for references before taking my bids, some have won, some have not, Just getting to know how things have changed.

Thank, Rawn

I just finished re-listing an EPDG Griffith because the previous bidder did not pay, auction ended 2-10. His feedback was over 3000 (96% positive) but never answered 3 e-mails...go figure?

But I agree with Rick in that the majority of problems occur with bidders under a "10". I specifically state for all under "10" to contact me before bidding...and they usually do. Those that don't I cancel..

As a matter of policy, all bidders with less that 10 must make contact me with a phone # as stated in my T&C on ebay. If they don't, the bids are cancelled and they end up on the blocked bidder list. It has saved a TON on headaches and problems. Sure, we all started out at zero, but I'm not selling 2.95 Grandma's attic items, and frankly am not that desperate for bids.

Barry, The worst ebay customer ever? My friend, this character is nothing and if this is the worst buyer you've ever had, then you have led a charmed life. Heavens forbid you ever get the occasional psycho, or the crook who files a claim with paypal that he never received the item and paypal yanks the money out of your account, and believe me, they're out there. There are some lousy human beings in the world of ebay. Who can ever forget the asshat who threatened to neg me because I didn't mention an undisclosed crease on a PSA 1 (ONE!) card. That got a phone call out of me, not a good thing for him

Yes, I look forward to May when my perfect feedback after nearly 10 years on the bay will be a target for the first snotnosed kid looking for a cheap laugh. Ebay continues to prove itself clueless to the real world.

Paul- I have been fortunate to have never gotten one of those crazy customers. But I do predict once the seller loses his ability to retaliate with a negative things will be a lot different on ebay.

If the sellers who left them negatives before would have taken the time to file non-paying-bidder alerts, than this scum would be suspended.
