Good luck on that, Bill. Reigning Scott in is not a one person job. I got your back on it!! (and we might need a few more people too )

We are now up to about 115 attendees and I appreciate everyone rsvp'ing so far. We will keep the rsvp open for about another week to a week and a half, then I will have to give the catering order to the hotel. If anyone changes plans (it always happens) please let me know. thanks again

Nope....there are a few options and I have yet to make a firm decision. I usually try to stay middle of the road somewhat. I will give an update on the menu when I turn in the order. I think for main courses I will have 3 options to pick from.. One is a Sliders station with Beef and Turkey sliders with all the fixings, number two is an antipasto and grilled vegetables plate and the number three option is Chicago hot dogs, again with all the fixin's....there will be light deserts and hors d'oeuvres too.

I really don't care which way we go on the food and I might even do a poll to see what most folks want....I am not sure if I can mix or match. regards

Default Thanks for the pic Bob

That was a pic of the core group a few years ago. While the number of attendees has grown, probably 4x's, nearly all of those pictured are still regulars.

Especially memorable in this picture is Zach's dad Max, who was always present and supported Zach and card collecting in general far more than most will ever do. Max will be missed at this National as he was last year.

Tim Kindler- Dinner and Beverages

Jeff Doll (JDOLL)- Dinner and Beverages

Jeff and I have attended many Nationals over the years with our great friend Dave who just passed away a couple of weeks ago. We look forward to having a few toasts in Dave's honor at the dinner. Looking forward to meeting and putting faces to names with many of the members whom I've corresponded with over the years. Thanks again to Leon for coordinating this and Heritage Auctions for sponsoring it!

Hope everybody has a safe trip there. Take Care.

Hi folks
We are up to 139 registered for the Dinner. I am happy to report that I believe, no disrespect meant to previous speakers as they were all good, the speakers set up for this year are the best we have ever had. If you are coming after the dinner (which is right after the speakers) you will be missing some really, really interesting folks that will be very entertaining. There are 3 speakers lined up right now and I have been on the edge of my seat the whole time speaking with them on the phone. One is well known but the other two, who I have not had the pleasure of speaking with at length before, and I had phone conversations that were over a hour long each. Absolutely riveting stuff. I am really excited about the Dinner this year. Get your RSVPs in asap please. I will probably close it down this Friday as I need to turn in the food order. The event will start at 6:30, the speakers will start at 7:15 and dinner will be served at approx. 8:30 to 8:45. best regards

Really wish I could go... haven't been to a National yet, but hope to be there next year. As for this year, I'll be under the Caribbean sun, so I can't complain.

Will any of them require the services of a criminal defense attorney? I'm headed back to NYC that morning but could extend my stay if need be.

Hello,

I am not much for posting. But I have been reading the site for the last couple of years.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Shawn Longley
Pete Sorensen

Both for dinner. Probably not drinks as we need to drive back to Wisconsin after the party.

Thanks
Shawn

Default final tally of 168 - largest ever

SO the final tally is 168 RSVP's......with 148 coming to the Dinner portion and 20 coming afterwards. I will be turning in the food order on Monday or Tuesday so if anyone's plans change, that rsvp'd, please let me know asap. Please remember there is the Legendary Auction that night and most of those 20 folks coming after dinner are the ones going to it first, which is perfectly fine. If you didn't realize that auction was the same night, and want to go there instead of the dinner and come over afterwards, no problem, please let me know. I will have the RSVP spreadsheet with me and if you aren't on it you won't be coming to the dinner for dinner or drinks. You can show up and security will gladly escort you out. If you think because you are a friend you didn't have to register, you will be speaking with security as they show you the door.

If my best friend in the world was throwing a party and he asked everyone to RSVP, then I would do it, or realize I wouldn't be attending. Same here.....

Depends if other security is available. I am sure no one would want to be somewhere they aren't invited.

Also, for the record, the RSVP's are closed. If you haven't RSVP'd then we might see you next year if we have a Dinner. The RSVP's were open for about 2 1/2 weeks and everyone that is a board member had a chance. IF there is some extraordinary situation email me. Thanks again for the 160+ that will be having dinner with us....

Default speakers

The speakers will be either Josh Evans (Lelands) or Mike Heffner (Lelands), Mike Berkus (who started and runs the National) and John Rogers of The Sporting News Archives. They will start at 7:15ish so please get over to the Dinner early...doors open at 6:30....

Josh has been quite sick lately, lymphoma, and I hope everyone will say a little prayer for him ... He will be a game day decision on speaking depending on how he feels.
