Default Voskamp's Wagner on eBay - assume it was a reprint?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

This Voskamp's Wagner sold on eBay earlier today - based on the seller's feedback (reprints in the past) and the card's very similar crease to the SGC 40 REA sold in the past, what else should one look for to detect a reprint on this card?

Has this been widely reprinted? Maybe I just haven't seen them before and missed the obvious, but I wasn't aware of reprints with this set.

yes, a reprint. A board member even owns the original from which it was printed.

one thing to look for is the clarity really sucks compared to an original. with the laser printers of today, assume all valuable sets have been reprinted.

Agreed. It is a reprint. Note the spot on the left shin when comparing to the REA SGC 40 one.

I am the board member to which Jeff referred. The esteemed Rawoysterman crafted reprints of this card as well as some other cards of mine. Looks like the seller employed the ol' inheritance from grandpa angle to unload it. Not to make too fine a point of it but my card has a crease whereas the reprint only has a picture of a crease. Best as I can tell seller is a scumbag.

We should really distinguish between a reprint and outright fraud. Larry Fritsch used to sell reprints all the time. It was a way for collectors to purchase sets that would have otherwise been too expensive in their original form. Nothing wrong with that and it was a legitimate business.

In this case someone stole the image of David's card and attempted to sell it. Of course if he got paid he would not have been able to deliver any product. That is just plain stealing.

Larry Fritsch sold licensed reprints that are totally legal. If you like them or not they are legal.
The cards from so called grandpa's attic are illegal counerfeits. Big Difference.

I think he actually made a card using the image Barry, but yeah, still just as bad.

So if you won the lot he would actually send a card to you. Got it. But still very bad.

Thanks guys, great info. And David, beautiful card!!!

Another thanks to eBay for hiding bidder's IDs, so that someone can't be informed before losing $282 to this seller scumbag.
