Default Mysto Sports Quiz - Lou Gehrig etc...?

Has anyone seen one of these before or have anymore information on it other than what is on it? Thanks!

Nice display item. I have not seen any 'cards' from such a set. Is that a copyright date on the Gehrig example shown on the sheet?

Brian (I am definitely Mysto-fied by this)

Mysto Magic was trademarked by the AC Gilbert Toy company as children magic sets. You can find a ton of items as it was a very popular toy line.

My guess is it was small promo or point of sale item at toy stores. The water activated "trick" reveal lends to it being part of that line.

Just a guess, but I would put my money on AC Gilbert.

To me it looks like a copyright symbol and possibly a date just above the big white "1" that is encircled in red. Too bad that area isn't clearer.

We'll see.

Some bits of evidence...

The Gehrig card mentions his 2,130 game streak, so it had to have been produced after May, 1939. Plus, it states that it is "still a record," so it must have been produced years later?

Thanks, eagle eyes. I wonder if it is from the late 1940's, early 1950's...that was the time frame that popped into my eagle (low visual acuity) head, based upon design.

ok, a little more info and yes, this appears to be a 1950s product...

The text you are asking about reads-

©1951 Premium Specialties, Chicago. This is a company established by Sam Gold- the person responsible for many premium type items and more. He, and his son Gordon, are legends in that field.

Here is an article on them-

Thanks for the additional info. With that link you included, it definitely seems that this display with the Lou Gehrig card could have been part of a sales pitch for a card related promotional item that, because it hasn't been seen, never made it to the market. And it sounds like the Gold duo had just the type of creative minds to think up such a gimmicky type of card collectible.
