Default Update on The Rudy Strejc Collection - Consigned to LOTG!

I’m excited to announce that we’ve consigned the entire Rudy Strejc Collection to Love of the Game Auctions under the direction of Al Crisafulli!

My family discussed our options for liquidating the collection and we feel strongly that the LOTG format and the personal attention from Al Crisafulli is a natural choice for us. I’m brand new to collecting, but from everything I read, Al’s reputation for integrity and his passion for the hobby speaks for itself and was a major factor in deciding who to consign with.

I’d like to personally thank each of you that I had the pleasure of making transactions with over the last few months (all here on Net54). I hope you check out the auction as it includes cards that I had not made public previously including several key 1948 Leaf (Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams and Honus Wagner) and also some desirable 1952 Topps!

For the non-sports fans, there is a wide variety of cards and subjects: Hollywood, Cowboys, Indian Life, Lighthouses, Birds, Flowers, etc.

Please check out Al's announcement and mark your calendars: the LOTG auction will occur in January/February of 2013.

Attached is a great photo of Rudy Strejc (b.1900 - d.1975). A high percentage of the cards (sports and non) are from Old Mill packs.

Cool. Seems like a good place to consign it.

Though I have to admit I'm a little bit hurt you didn't even consider my auction house, even though I don't have one. Let's call it speculatively hurt.

Nice choice with LOTG and looks like an amazing collection with a great story. Wow that's a lot of Obaks!

Jonathan: I consigned several items to Honest Al's Auctions this fall and would like to report to you that it was a pleasure from start to finish. My consignments were in good company as there were numerous first tier items. I was especially impressed by the homework Al did to prepare articulate and informative item descriptions that were notable for the absence of puffery and flowery crap that seems to be the standard of many AH's. The fact that Al conducted his auction effectively in the midst of a devastating "meteorological event" ought to be all the character reference you'd ever need. Good luck with the sale of your collection. Love me some Obaks.

All I can say is, wow! I can't imagine where some of these will end up as both type and set collectors try to cross off some tough ones from their lists. Impressive offering.

I photographed this collection for Love of the Game last week, and it was so nice to see such a grouping of collector grade cards. Tons and tons of Obaks, E98's, T206's, along with E100's, some really really nice '49 Leafs, '52 Topps, Colgans, and a ton of non sports.
Really looking forward to the auction.

Beautifully photographed Anthony. I had such a pleasant experience with Al's inaugural auction that he gets my vote for consignments.

Good luck Jonathan and Al!

my sincerest congratulations on making such a wise choice.
Al's inaugural auction was an incredibly successful event which I was very proud to be part of. Everything about him and the auctions are top shelf.
His integrity, attentiveness, and workhorse efforts are unparalleled.
I'm eager and excited to bid on your offerings, as well as others.
Pairing Anthony N and Al is no less than a tour de force.
all the best,
Barry

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! We couldn't be happier with our decision to go with LOTG. I've never done anything like this before. Al and I had many conversations leading up to this and I never once felt pressured or intimidated.

Anthony's photography is great, I love seeing the "card orgy" and I feel for the guy knowing that he had to pull all those cards out of sleeves/holders to lay them out like that. There are nearly 1000 cards in the collection.

I can't wait for Al to reveal more about the collection, there are some exciting pieces in there.

Speaking of marketing, I really enjoy the way Al built the drama slowly revealing Anthony's photos on Facebook prior to the announcement. Also looking forward to the trailers that he has planned to show in selected IMAX 3D theaters! Just kidding, but that gives me an idea...

Congrats to Al...and great choice Jonathan. Good luck with everything!!

From a brief viewing I think the card I like the most is the T206 Johnson missing colors, though it's been sold already, according to the website.
