I don't think this card should be a vgex - it's just too ugly with all the stains. I've seen beautiful caramel cards that SGC graded 'good' because of two very light creases that were more like bends.

I still think SGC does the best job, but the above example is why you can't buy/sell cards based on a grading company's grade, without seeing the card.

Scott, which card are you referring to in your post?

One thing I have learned about scanning cards is that stains always seem to appear darker then they really are "in the flesh".

Could be the case with this card.

Jeff - your e102 Cobb looks better but got a 30? I'd like to see a can of that card.

my mistake. very light "product" stain on the front (I love it when serious-sounding types describe that way -- it's like it could be a euphemism for crack), small tape mark on back. that's what did it. still looks WAY better. couple light creases in the lower right corner. I don't dispute the grade -- it's probably a g-vg as graded by an average collector, I have a much bigger problem with the Young card this post is about. If you'd still like to see a scan, I've got one, though my scanner doesn't do a great job with SGC holders. Send me an email if you want to see it. jeff_sackmann -at- hotmail.com

Man, that's frustrating. I've got a e102 Cobb that is graded a 30 that looks WAY better and appears to have gotten its grade because of a small candy stain on the BACK. Grrrr.

I always thought it sounded like a way to describe cocaine. Glad to see it wasn't just my evil mind.

Julie,
Usually, people are not relieved when they find I share their quirks. You might now be worse off...:)
