Default Baseball currency in Auction today

Posted By: Jim Clarke

Did any of you guys watch or bid on any of the 28 pieces of Baseball currency that went off today? It was on Ebay Live from a New York company. The bidding was very sprited and many issues had never been seen before. I'm wondering if more of the baseball card collectors won them or currency collectors? Not sure who is more fanatical?

JC

I watched all of them go off and they seemed to go very high IMO....of course I don't know the intracicies and rarities offhand. That Indian team one was very cool though.

Did you win any Jim?

Despite their look, they are closer to trade cards than currency. I would think they are of more interest to baseball card collectors than currency collectors. They are rare, and you don't see them for sale often. In the past these have been undervalued as many baseball card collectors aren't sure if they count as baseball cards.

Obviously these came from someone who collected currency as that was the bulk of what was available in this auction....much like a coin collector who collects tokens.

There were some great notes and a few real rarities here. This one was the best in my opinion.

True, not sure how to classify them? Sure is a cool item though having a 19th century pro team on one piece with many HOFers.

Here is another example I've never seen before. Having a Theatre back ground is just a bonus..
