The Fleer Corp. was founded by Frank H. Fleer in 1914 as a chewing gum company. That being said, I've never heard of any card issue from them during this time period. |

The 1960 American Card Catalog lists a Fleer "E" set - "E241 - Movie Stars, Frank H. Fleer, sm." Standard size for E cards is defined (by Burdick) as 1.5" by 2.75". |

1923 Fleer strip card

There was a Babe Ruth strip card that had surfaced previously with the Fleer imprint on the back. I know it was covered by the hobby publications. In fact, it might even have been in one of Lemke's columns in SCD, but don't hold me to this. |

The set is listed as 1923 Fleerin the 1999 SCD Standard Catalogue (I'm at work and don't have my newer editions handy). The Collins card is listed at $200NM, $100EX and $60VG. The catalogue says that all 60 baseball players in the W515 set were also issued with this same Fleer advertising. |

Todd is correct. The Collins appears to be a legitimate and rare card for you type card collectors. |

Thanks for all your helpful answers. I will be buying the 2003 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards when it comes out--my 1998 edition just doesn't cut it when it comes to some these more obscure issues. In my twenty years of collecting, I don't recall ever seeing one of these cards before. |
