Default A Challenge for the True Collectors out there!

Posted By: Jason L

Here's something I have been kicking around in the ole cranium for a little while. Let's see how well I can express it in words.

Let's have a contest within this thread, whereby we post a card (preferrably show it if you have it), and the list of possible reasons it can be collected (set, team set, HOFer, ROY, 40/40 member, etc), thus making it significant. The card with the largest list of possible reasons to collect the card (or include it in a collection), wins.

The winner will have, in theory, just identified what should be the most popular card in the hobby! If nothing else, it will expand your perspectives about your cards.

I'll get started with this example.

Reasons to collect (8):
T206 Set
T206 White Sox
1919 Black Sox member
blacklisted MLB player
player collection
tobacco White Sox collection
T206 Sweater-wearer subset
batting pose

OK. I'll try it. I'm sure there are more categories I could include, but this is off the top of my head.

T206 type
T206 set
T206 Detroiters
T206 portraits
HOF (along with T206 HOF as an offshoot)
Inaugural HOF players
Detroit players
Player-managers
League MVP's
Triple-crown winners
Career leaders (batting avg)
World Series players (not winners though)

Annnd of course, lest we forget:
SGC graded cards or
Graded cards.
happy.gif How could I resist?

Several of the above could also be expressed as T206 subsets (T206 MVP's, etc)

Cool thread. I might edit this if I get creative and think of more collection categories later.

Jason & Joann You can both add the tobacco back brand to the T206 as well.
