Default Can ebay sellers change terms of sale?

Yesterday, I made an offer to a seller on a card, seller messages me saying he can't sell at that price, I reply that I could not go higher. He replies back that he cannot go lower. I assume deal is dead, this morning I wake up to find that he accepted my offer. He then sends me an invoice with an extra $10 for shipping, when the original auction included free shipping. I feel that if he wanted an extra $10 he should have made a counteroffer with the $10 included.

Can a seller change the term of a sale just like that and will eBay require me to pay the invoice?

Link or item number?

Perhaps the free shipping was only if the buyer hit the BIN, otherwise it was $10?

The auction said nothing about the free shipping being conditional. When I received the email from eBay it said shipping was free, seller added it afterwards to invoice.

I believe the seller is a member here and Id rather not cause a problem in outing him.

Understood, but it's hard to give an opinion without reading the auction description for ourselves,

Can you PM me a link?

$10 shipping for one card is outrageous. Don't pay the invoice. Call Ebay and explain the situation.

I just want to say the seller took off the $10. Thanks to everyone for the comments.

LOL, so you are saying the seller ran across this thread.

As far as the original question I have had sellers do the same thing. They will accept the lower price and then just add the reduction to the shipping cost. When making offers on eBay make sure to include shipping details along with your offer.
