OK, I'll start the month with this one!!! lolol. Toobbbyyyyyyyyy. Thanks Toby, on the Oakley. Another I've waited a long time for. (Is that a great looking 2 or what???)

And the M116 Jones I got awhile ago but hadn't scanned yet. What a really, really nice card - from Adam W's for sale site.

Hee. Good month so far guys!!

Joann

(Edited to add M116 scan and comment on N28 grade.)

Wish all 2's were this nice.
Am collecting a T205 Giants subset. Need two more.

Love the high kick.
Not big on strip cards but have an HR Baker thing going.

(Edited for layout. Thanks and a tip of the Hatlo Hat to Joann of Detwoit)

Picked up my first N570 Kickapoo card (Large 2.5" by 4"). And this attractive series is already my favorite Indian Chiefs/Wild West issue.
Also picked up a N162 Buffalo Bill (with another one on the way).

David:

That is truly a beautiful Wagner.

The Tip Top Bread set is one of my favorites pre-war sets.

The front of the card is exceptional.

Can we assume the 2 is a result of back damage?

Thanks for posting,

Patrick

Glad you guys like the Tip Top Wagner. In answer to your question, Patrick, the back damage is very minimal, the worst thing being a spot of paper loss between Leifeld and Maddox and a bit out of Wilson. I am guessing that the grade came from some creases in the card that are difficult to see in the picture I posted of the front. The upper-right and lower-left corners have been bent; there is also a wrinkle running from the "P" in Pittsburgh up and trailing off to the left border above his ear. I needed my bifocals to see that one. For any dreamcard I would take a two like this everytime.

Andrew,
That is one of the nicest E93 Mattys I have seen! Color, registration, and CENTERING! As you know that card is off-centered l/r more often than not. Great pick-up!

David - Great looking wagner - I'd take a 2 that looked like that any day.

Brain = those are some nice grades for the condition of the two Cobb's cards above (T206/E106).

With out seeing the back I would grade the T206 Cobb sgc30, and for the E106 sgc10, just my opinion!

I see nothing wrong with the 40 given to the t206 red cobb. I also think, given their grading criteria, absent any paperloss, a 20 is not unreasonable for the e106 cobb standing.

V117 Collector:

I personally submitted the T206 Red Cobb in 2002-2003 and believe it is accurately graded. I sold the card and only recently reacquired it from another board member. The back is clean and there are no creases.

I submitted a T206 Red Cobb last year and it was returned as a SGC 10; I thought it was a solid 30 and was shocked when it came back a 10. I broke it out, resubmitted and it again came back a 10. So I agree, SGC can be harsh at times.

As for the E106s...I thought the SGC 20 was fair. I was hoping the other E106 that was returned as "authentic" would get a 10 but I wasn't too confident because it was really beat up. On my submission form I requested numerical grades, but if a numerical graded was not possible, to slab as authentic. It was a two card submission with one card getting slabbed as authentic and the other as a 20.

Brian E.

I picked up the 6 card set of Gold Medal Flour Detroit players from 2 different board members. Here is one of them. Did not want to clutter with pics of all 6.

A few e93s newly returned from sgc and a not so pretty e102 wagner. Coveleskie and Evers are undergraded - not a crease or wrinkle to be found.

Brian -

If your e106 Cobb is a 20, I can't believe my wagner is a 20. Definately not all 20's are created equal.

For what it's worth, SGC completely killed me on my last submission. I think I caught their graders on a very bad day.

Won from Mile High (great experience). Both were just cracked out of SGC "A" holders (admittedly the screw driver was trembling a bit). The Mitchell is obviously trimmed, but the Walsh, hhmmmmmmmmmm?????
