While faithfully searching for "GAI" graded cards, I came across the following:

Bidding history for - E102 NAP LAJOIE GAI EX-MT 6

Bidding history for - 1975 TOPPS NOLAN RYAN #500 GAI MINT 9

Just who is this mysterious bidder known as "elronsanchez?" No doubt, a very big believer in GAI graded cards. Slightly unusual collecting habits, however.

Hmmm...bidding on all GAI cards plus a "Secret Care Bear" that did not meet reserve.

I can really only think two things about this:

1) Who would've thought that care bears had reserves, too (I mean, it's a toy!)

2) If somebody was at a card show asking about GAI cards and care bears, he'd get even funnier looks than I get when I say, "no, I mean REALLY low-grade."

And a barely related musing on GAI: are they the first company to get "world", "international" or "global" into their name? Maybe if they could corner that market, they'd be the best authenticators of cards that travel out of the country...

Hmmmmm.

He was willing to spend $496 and $497 but not willing to bid the magic $500.

Hey now, don't knock Care Bears, My Little Pony or other toys. There is some serious money in those 'toys'. I know, I used to collect Banana Splits and other toys and owned a store that sold the stuff. But, yes, it's abit of an odd combo only becuase all the collectors of Care Bears I know are women. They think I am just as crazy for spending money on Star Wars, baseball cards and other 'male' things.

I hear you. I wish I still had all my Star Wars toys that I did when I was a kid. I was one of those "odd" kids who saved the boxes as well.

My Mom's garage sale fixation ruined my retirement fund.

Star Wars toys have peaked. The market is pretty soft now, even with the new movie due out. 1995-1997 was the hey-day for selling your Star Wars toys. One of the vehicles I have, the Imperial Shuttle Tiburion sold for around $350 in 1997. Now you are lucky to get $200 for it.

Based on the bidding habits of "elronsanchez," I'd say that he'd have to be "GAI."

The high bidder's ID on the Ryan IS "globalcardtrader".

A fan. . . .or family?
